Process Engineer – Water & Wastewater

Role Purpose

Support Expora’s water and wastewater business by providing day-to-day process engineering, technical evaluation, consultant review, and proposal support.

The role will act as Expora’s internal process-engineering resource and help the Company evaluate technically sound and commercially viable treatment solutions.

Key Responsibilities

- Review customer wastewater reports, laboratory analyses, operating data, and treatment requirements.
- Identify missing technical information and prepare data-gap lists and customer questionnaires.
- Analyze industrial wastewater characteristics and recommend suitable treatment approaches.
- Develop preliminary treatment trains and process concepts.
- Prepare or review:
- Design basis.
- Process flow diagrams.
- Mass and water balances.
- Preliminary equipment sizing.
- Chemical consumption.
- Utility requirements.
- Sludge and residual estimates.
- CAPEX and OPEX inputs.
- Review technical proposals submitted by external engineering consultants and technology vendors.
- Compare alternative treatment solutions and identify technical strengths, weaknesses, risks, and assumptions.
- Support management in evaluating technical recommendations and preparing questions for consultants and vendors.
- Coordinate technically with Expora’s external engineering consultant pool.
- Support preparation of customer technical proposals.
- Review vendor datasheets, quotations, and technical submissions.
- Assist with RFQs and technical bid evaluations.
- Support project engineering, commissioning, troubleshooting,



and performance evaluation where required.
- Maintain proper records of calculations, technical decisions, consultant outputs, and lessons learned.
- Develop reusable technical knowledge for recurring wastewater applications.

Priority Technical Areas Experience should preferably include several of the following:

- Industrial wastewater treatment.
- High-COD and refractory wastewater.
- Biological treatment.
- MBBR, MBR, and activated sludge.
- High-ammonia wastewater.
- Oily wastewater and DAF.
- Coagulation and flocculation.
- Advanced oxidation processes.
- Activated carbon and adsorption.
- UF, NF, and RO systems.
- High-TDS wastewater and brine treatment.
- ZLD systems.
- Refinery and petrochemical wastewater.
- Spent caustic treatment.

Qualifications

- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Chemical Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Biotechnology, or a related discipline.
- Approximately 5–10 years of relevant water and wastewater process-engineering experience.
- Strong preference for candidates with industrial wastewater experience rather than only municipal STP/WTP experience.
- Experience working with EPC companies, engineering consultants, technology providers, or industrial water-treatment companies preferred.

Required Capability The candidate should be able to independently:

- Understand wastewater laboratory reports.




- Identify critical contaminants and process constraints.
- Develop preliminary treatment concepts.
- Perform basic process and mass-balance calculations.
- Evaluate competing technologies.
- Challenge consultant and vendor assumptions.
- Read and review PFDs and P&IDs.;
- Understand treatment performance guarantees.
- Prepare clear technical notes and proposal inputs.
- Communicate technical matters in explicit commercial language.

Candidate Profile Expora is looking for a practical process engineer, not an academic researcher.

- Development of Expora’s internal technical knowledge base.

Job Type: Full-time Pay: ₹25,000.00 - ₹200,000.00 per month
