Principal Officer — Insurance Broking (Life & General) | Pune

Location: Pune, Maharashtra (on-site)

Build a brokerage from the ground up

We are a new-age insurance broking company preparing to apply for a Direct Broker (Life & General) licence from IRDAI, headquartered in Pune. Alongside life and general insurance, we are building a differentiated Surety & Insurance Bonds vertical (under IRDAI's Surety Insurance Contracts Guidelines, 2022) serving contractors, EPC firms and infrastructure players — one of the most promising B2B whitespaces in Indian insurance today.

We're looking for our founding Principal Officer — the statutory head of the broking business, the named accountable officer before IRDAI, and a true co-builder of the firm.

What you'll own

- The licence. Lead the IRDAI registration end-to-end — Form B application, capital and infrastructure readiness, regulatory queries — and thereafter own every filing, renewal and inspection.
- Compliance culture. Full accountability for the Insurance Act, IRDAI Broker Regulations 2018, Code of Conduct, professional indemnity cover, AML/KYC and data-protection obligations.
- The business. Co-own the P&L; with the partners. Empanel life, general and surety-writing insurers, set placement strategy, and build revenue across retail, SME and corporate segments.
- The surety vertical. Stand up a specialist B2B bonds practice — insurer empanelment, credit-assessment capability, and pipelines with project-driven businesses.
- Client outcomes. Institutionalise needs-based advice, transparent quote comparison, and a claims-advocacy function clients genuinely value.
- The team. Hire, certify and lead vertical heads, Broker Qualified Persons and operations staff — with zero tolerance for uncertified solicitation or mis-selling.

What you must bring (IRDAI eligibility — non-negotiable)





- Graduate degree plus a recognised professional qualification (Associate/Fellow of III, IIRM qualification, actuarial credentials, CA/CS/CMA, MBA, LLB or equivalent)
- Willingness to complete the 50-hour broker training (NIA Pune / IRDAI-recognised institute) and explicit the prescribed examination before filing — we will sponsor this
- Clean fit-and-proper record: no convictions, insolvency or adverse regulatory history
- Ability to serve as a whole-time, exclusive employee — no concurrent role with any other insurer or intermediary

What will make you stand out

- 10 years in insurance, broking, underwriting or financial services, with insurer relationships across life and non-life markets
- Exposure to surety, trade credit, project finance or contractor credit assessment
- Experience facing a regulator — filings, inspections, audits
- A builder's mindset: comfortable being employee #1 of a licensed entity
- Fluency in English and Marathi/Hindi for the Pune and Western Maharashtra market
