Main Duties and Responsibilities
- Lead site visits, field investigations, data collection, and consultations with clients, government authorities, and stakeholder agencies to establish project requirements, design criteria, and project briefs.
- Lead and undertake the planning and design of complex, medium-, and large-scale sewerage and drainage projects, including gravity, pressure, loop, and combined systems.
- Develop and review sewerage and drainage network designs, including hydraulic analysis, pipe sizing, alignment, profiles, pumping systems, and associated infrastructure.
- Lead the design of sewerage infrastructure, including gravity and pressure pipelines, distribution networks, manholes, wells, pumping stations, pumping mains, and other associated hydraulic/hydrotechnical structures.
- Prepare, review, and approve design calculations, technical reports, drawings, specifications, BOQs, and cost estimates in accordance with applicable codes, standards, and project requirements.
- Lead the design and detailing of water reservoirs and RCC tanks, including overhead, surface, and underground tanks, as well as associated pumping stations and pumping mains.
- Develop and review technical specifications for pipes, fittings, valves, construction materials, equipment, and construction methodologies.
- Prepare and review detailed engineering drawings, layouts, longitudinal profiles, typical details, and construction drawings for sewerage and drainage infrastructure.
- Ensure the technical quality, accuracy, and constructability of designs and deliverables before submission to the client.
- Review designs and deliverables prepared by junior engineers and provide technical guidance, mentoring, and support to the design team.
- Coordinate closely with multidisciplinary teams, including urban planners, urban designers, architects, structural engineers, electrical/mechanical engineers, estimators, CAD, and GIS teams.
- Coordinate with procurement specialists, Quantity Surveyors, Infrastructure Experts, and Project Managers to provide timely technical inputs for tendering, procurement, and project implementation.
- Participate in client and stakeholder meetings, technical presentations, design reviews, and progress discussions, and provide appropriate technical recommendations.
- Respond to and resolve technical queries raised by clients, government departments, contractors, and other stakeholders during design, tendering, and construction stages.
- Review contractor submissions, technical proposals, shop drawings, material submissions, and method statements, where required, and provide technical recommendations.
- Support tendering and bidding activities by preparing technical inputs, specifications, BOQs, estimates, and responses to technical queries and clarifications.
- Identify design risks, interface issues, and potential constructability challenges and recommend appropriate technical solutions.
- Ensure compliance of designs with applicable national/international standards, statutory requirements, client specifications, and project-specific design criteria.
- Maintain overall responsibility for timely delivery of assigned design packages while ensuring quality, cost-effectiveness, and adherence to project schedules.
- Provide technical leadership and support to the Project Manager and senior management on PHE, sewerage, and drainage-related matters.
- Contribute to business development activities, including preparation of technical proposals, methodologies, scope of work, and technical presentations, as required.
