Location: Assigned Partner Schools
1. Role Purpose
The Music Educator at Furtados School of Music (FSM) is responsible for delivering engaging, high-quality music education while ensuring an exceptional learning experience for students. The educator is expected to implement FSM’s curriculum, facilitate meaningful musical learning, maintain professional relationships with partner schools, uphold FSM’s vision, mission and values, and comply with all academic, operational and organizational processes.
The Music Educator is also expected to act as a brand ambassador for FSM and ensure that their teaching, conduct, communication and professional appearance consistently reflect the standards and reputation of FSM.
1. Key Responsibilities 2.1 Teaching & Learning
Deliver music lessons as per FSM curriculum and lesson plans. Teach assigned instruments, vocal music and/or music theory to students across different age groups.
Create an engaging, safe, inclusive and encouraging learning setting.
Encourage creativity, discipline, confidence and appreciation for music.
Adapt teaching methods based on students’ individual learning needs and abilities.
Ensure timely and effective completion of the prescribed curriculum.
Use appropriate teaching methodologies to make lessons engaging and outcome-oriented.
Encourage students to actively participate and develop their musical abilities.
Ensure every student receives appropriate attention and support during lessons.
2.2 Student Assessment & Progress
Conduct regular practical and theoretical assessments.
Monitor student progress and maintain accurate assessment records.
Provide constructive and age-appropriate feedback to students.
Communicate student progress professionally to parents and relevant school stakeholders.
Complete report cards and evaluations within stipulated timelines.
Identify students requiring additional support, intervention or enrichment.
Track student learning outcomes and take corrective action wherever required.
Encourage students to work towards continuous improvement.
2.3 Student Performances & School Activities
Train students for Annual Day, Assemblies, Competitions, Concerts and other School Events.
Participate actively in rehearsals and event preparation.
Support all music-related school initiatives assigned by FSM or the partner school.
Encourage student participation, confidence and stage presence.
Identify opportunities for students to showcase their musical abilities.
Ensure students are adequately prepared for performances and competitions.
Support FSM initiatives, workshops, events and other academic activities as required.
2.4 Parent & School Relationship
Attend Parent-Teacher Meetings (PTMs) whenever scheduled.
Maintain positive and professional relationships with school principals, coordinators, teachers and parents.
Communicate student progress and concerns professionally.
Address routine queries appropriately and escalate concerns through the designated FSM reporting structure.
Represent FSM with the highest standards of professionalism.
Build trust with school stakeholders through consistent delivery, communication and ownership.
Ensure that interactions with school stakeholders contribute positively to FSM’s relationship with the partner school.
1. FSM Vision, Mission & Brand Alignment
Every Music Educator is expected to understand and actively contribute to the vision and mission of Furtados School of Music.
The educator shall
Understand the purpose and larger vision of FSM and demonstrate alignment with it through their work.
Ensure that classroom delivery reflects FSM’s commitment to quality music education and meaningful student experiences.
Inspire students to learn, explore, perform and develop a lasting appreciation for music.
Demonstrate ownership towards FSM’s academic, operational and organizational goals.
Represent FSM positively in every interaction with students, parents, schools, colleagues and external stakeholders.
Protect and strengthen FSM’s reputation and brand image through professional conduct.
Take responsibility for creating a consistent and positive FSM experience for every student and school.
Every Music Educator should understand that they are not only responsible for conducting music classes but are also responsible for representing FSM and contributing to its larger vision.
1. Administrative Responsibilities 4.1 LearnBuddy (LB)
The Music Educator shall: Update LearnBuddy immediately after every class.
Record attendance, lesson conducted, curriculum covered and relevant remarks.
Ensure all curriculum updates are completed accurately and on time.
Maintain accurate and complete student records.
Ensure student names, attendance and lesson information are updated correctly.
Use LearnBuddy as the designated system for maintaining academic records.
4.2 Daily School Synopsis
Share a daily synopsis in the respective school communication group after completion of classes.
The synopsis should include
o Classes conducted o Topics covered o Student attendance o Activities performed o Performance practice, if any o Concerns or achievements requiring follow-up
4.3 Attendance – Zimyo
Mark Login immediately upon reporting to school.
Mark Logout before leaving school.
Attendance must always be marked in real time.
Attendance must accurately reflect the actual working hours at the assigned school.
Important Attendance Guidelines:
Attendance regularisation is generally not permitted.
“On Duty (OD)” attendance is not applicable unless specifically approved by Management.
Incorrect or incomplete attendance may affect payroll.
Report attendance-related technical issues immediately.
Any repeated attendance non-compliance may be considered as part of performance evaluation.

All reports and documentation must be complete, accurate and submitted within the prescribed timelines.
1. Training & Professional Development
Every Music Educator is expected to: Attend all mandatory trainings conducted by the Academic Cluster Team, HR Team and Management.
Participate in induction programmes, refresher trainings and workshops.
Continuously upgrade musical knowledge, teaching skills and classroom practices.
Implement learnings from training into classroom delivery.
Participate in observations, coaching sessions and performance reviews.
Demonstrate openness to feedback and continuously work on areas of improvement.
Keep themselves updated with relevant developments in music education and teaching methodologies.
Take ownership of their own professional and musical development.
1. Professional Demeanour, Appearance & Brand Representation
As a representative of FSM within partner schools, every Music Educator is expected to maintain high standards of professional conduct, appearance and demeanour. 7.1 Professional Demeanour The Music Educator shall:
Maintain a positive, approachable and respectful demeanour at all times.
Communicate courteously and professionally with students, parents, school staff, colleagues and FSM representatives.
Demonstrate patience, maturity and emotional control while dealing with students or stakeholders.
Handle disagreements and concerns professionally and through the appropriate reporting channels.
Maintain appropriate professional boundaries with students, parents and school personnel.
Avoid arguments, confrontational behaviour, inappropriate language or conduct that may negatively impact FSM’s reputation.
Demonstrate confidence, enthusiasm and a positive attitude in the classroom.
Be respectful of the school’s culture, processes and hierarchy.
Demonstrate professionalism even in challenging situations.
7.2 Professional Dressing & Grooming The Music Educator is expected to report to school in clean, neat, well-groomed and appropriate professional attire suitable for a formal school environment.
The educator shall
Maintain clean and well-presented clothing.
Dress appropriately for the school environment and the nature of the assignment.
Maintain appropriate personal hygiene and grooming.
Ensure footwear and accessories are neat and suitable for a school environment.
Avoid clothing, accessories or appearance that may be inappropriate, distracting or inconsistent with a professional school setting.
Maintain a professional appearance during school events, performances, PTMs, workshops and FSM activities.
Follow any specific dress or grooming requirements communicated by FSM or the partner school.
7.3 Brand Representation
Remember that while at a partner school, the educator represents FSM and its brand.
Ensure that personal behaviour does not negatively impact FSM’s reputation.
Avoid making unauthorised commitments or statements on behalf of FSM.
Use only approved FSM communication channels and processes.
Escalate complaints, sensitive issues or concerns to the appropriate FSM representative.
Maintain confidentiality and professionalism when representing FSM externally.
1. Professional Conduct & Compliance
The Music Educator shall: Adhere to all FSM policies, SOPs and Code of Conduct.
Follow the No Touch Policy at all times while interacting with students.
Comply with Child Protection and Student Safety Guidelines.
Maintain confidentiality of all student, parent, school and organizational information.
Demonstrate professionalism in appearance, communication, behaviour and conduct.
Use only FSM-approved systems and communication channels.
Report any safety concerns, incidents or policy violations immediately.
Maintain appropriate boundaries with students and school stakeholders.
Never engage in behaviour that may compromise student safety or FSM’s reputation.
Comply with all reasonable academic,
operational and administrative instructions issued by FSM.
1. Working Expectations
The Music Educator is expected to: Report punctually to all assigned schools.
Complete all scheduled classes without exception.
Be available for meetings, school events, rehearsals and performances whenever assigned.
Travel between assigned schools as per business requirements.
Support substitution classes whenever assigned.
Ensure proper care and maintenance of musical instruments and classroom resources.
Be flexible in supporting reasonable academic and operational requirements.
Take ownership of assigned responsibilities and ensure timely completion.
Communicate proactively in case of any issue that may affect classes or school operations.
1. Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
Performance of the Music Educator will be evaluated based on both quantitative outcomes and qualitative behaviours. A. Academic & Student Outcomes
Curriculum Completion: Timely and effective completion of the assigned curriculum.
Lesson Delivery Quality: Quality, preparedness, structure and effectiveness of classroom delivery.
Student Learning Outcomes: Demonstrable progress in students’ musical knowledge, skills and performance.
Student Engagement: Student participation, interest, attendance and involvement during classes.
Student Progress: Regular tracking of student development and appropriate intervention wherever required.
Student Retention & Continuation: Ability to contribute towards continued student participation and reduce avoidable student drop-offs.
Performance Readiness: Quality of preparation and student participation in school performances, competitions and events.

Student Satisfaction: Positive learning experience and engagement.
Parent Feedback: Professional communication and satisfaction with student progress.
School Feedback: Feedback from school coordinators, teachers and management.
Relationship Management: Ability to build and maintain positive relationships with partner schools.

C. Operational & Administrative Compliance
LearnBuddy Compliance: Timely and accurate updates after every class.
Zimyo Attendance Compliance: Accurate real-time attendance marking and adherence to attendance requirements.
Reporting Compliance: Timely submission of daily synopses, reports, assessments and other documentation.
Documentation Accuracy: Accuracy and completeness of academic and student records.
Curriculum & Record Accuracy: Alignment between actual classroom delivery and system records.
Inventory & Resource Management: Responsible handling and maintenance of FSM instruments and resources.

Brand Representation: Consistently represents FSM positively within partner schools.

Performance evaluation will consider both the results achieved and the manner in which those results are achieved. Consistent non-compliance with professional conduct, attendance, documentation, student safety or FSM brand standards may negatively impact overall performance evaluation.
1. Qualifications & Experience
Bachelor’s Degree. Formal music training in Instrumental or Vocal Music.
Preferred
Trinity, ABRSM, Rockschool, Berklee or equivalent certification.
Prior teaching experience in schools or music institutions.
Experience working with students across different age groups.
