NRS designs, manufactures and delivers specialised equipment for major infrastructure projects, including Launching Gantries, Movable Scaffolding Systems (MSS), Segment Lifters, Beam Launchers, Gantry Cranes, EOT Cranes and other heavy structural and lifting solutions.
Our equipment is used across major bridge, metro, elevated road and infrastructure projects in India and international markets.
Role OverviewWe are looking for a Production Engineer who will be responsible for planning, supervising and monitoring the manufacturing of heavy steel structures and mechanical equipment at our manufacturing facility.
The role will involve hands-on coordination of fabrication, welding, assembly, manpower, production activities and shop-floor execution.
The candidate will work closely with the Engineering, Quality, Purchase and Project teams to ensure that production is completed as per drawings, specifications, quality standards and project schedules.
This is a shop-floor-oriented role and requires someone who is comfortable working directly with workers, supervisors and fabrication teams.

Planning &
• Execution
- Plan and monitor day-to-day production activities.
- Prepare and track production schedules based on project requirements.
- Ensure timely completion of fabrication and assembly activities.
- Monitor production progress against planned targets.
- Identify production delays and take corrective action.
- Coordinate with Engineering, Quality, Purchase and Project teams to resolve production-related issues.

Fabrication &
• Structural Manufacturing
- Supervise fabrication of heavy steel structures and mechanical equipment.
- Monitor cutting, fit-up, welding, grinding, drilling and other fabrication activities.
- Ensure fabrication is carried out as per approved drawings and specifications.
- Understand fabrication drawings, dimensions, tolerances and basic welding symbols.
- Coordinate assembly of fabricated components and sub-assemblies.
- Monitor material movement and availability for production activities.
- Ensure proper utilisation of machines, tools and manpower.
3. Manpower & • Shop-Floor Management
- Supervise and allocate workers, fabricators, welders, fitters and helpers according to production requirements.
- Monitor worker productivity and attendance.
- Allocate manpower based on priority and production targets.
- Ensure proper discipline and safe working practices on the shop floor.
- Coordinate with supervisors and contractors for manpower requirements.
- Train and guide workers on work methods and production requirements.
4. Quality & • Engineering Coordination
- Ensure production activities are carried out according to approved drawings and specifications.
- Coordinate with the Quality team for inspection and clearance.
- Identify fabrication and assembly defects and ensure timely rectification.
- Coordinate with Engineering for drawing-related or technical clarifications.
- Ensure dimensional accuracy and proper fit-up before welding and assembly.
- Maintain production records, inspection records and progress reports.
5. Safety & 5S
- Ensure compliance with safety requirements during fabrication and assembly activities.
- Monitor PPE usage and safe working practices.
- Ensure proper housekeeping and 5S on the shop floor.
- Identify unsafe conditions and immediately report/correct them.
- Ensure safe handling and movement of heavy components.

Production
Reporting
- Prepare daily production reports.
- Track production against planned quantities and timelines.
- Report manpower utilisation, production status, delays and bottlenecks.
- Maintain records of completed and pending fabrication activities.
- Provide regular updates to the Production Head / Plant Management.
Required Technical Skills
- Strong understanding of heavy fabrication and structural manufacturing.
- Knowledge of welding, fabrication, fit-up, cutting, drilling and assembly processes.
- Ability to read and understand engineering/fabrication drawings.
- Understanding of dimensions, tolerances and basic welding symbols.
- Knowledge of steel structures and mechanical assemblies.
- Basic understanding of production planning and scheduling.
- Ability to identify and resolve shop-floor production problems.
- Valuable knowledge of MS Excel for production tracking and reporting.
- Knowledge of 5S / Lean Manufacturing will be an advantage.
Manpower ManagementThe candidate should be comfortable managing a diverse shop-floor workforce, including:
- Fabricators
- Welders
- Fitters
- Gas cutters
- Helpers
- Assembly workers
- Contract manpower
The person should be able to give clear instructions, allocate work, monitor productivity and ensure that production targets are achieved through the available manpower. Qualifications
- B.E./B.Tech/Diploma in Mechanical Engineering or Production Engineering.
- 2–6 years of experience in production, fabrication or heavy engineering.
- Experience in heavy structural fabrication, machinery manufacturing, cranes, bridge construction equipment or similar industries will be preferred.
Candidates with strong practical fabrication and shop-floor experience may also be considered based on their technical knowledge and ability. Preferred ExperienceExperience in any of the following industries will be an advantage:

ImportantThis is not a desk-based production planning role. The Production Engineer will be expected to be actively present on the shop floor, understand what is happening in fabrication and assembly, manage manpower, resolve day-to-day production issues and ensure that the required structures and equipment are manufactured as per drawing, quality, safety and delivery requirements.
