Marketing Manager – Referral Engine
Institute of Health & Longevity (IHL)
Location: Coimbatore Role Type: Full-time / Startup Stage
Function: Growth, Partnerships & Referral Marketing
About IHL
The Institute of Health & Longevity (IHL) is an early-stage preventive health and longevity initiative focused on helping adults, particularly people aged 40+, improve their healthspan, physical capacity and quality of life. IHL combines structured education, diagnostics, expert guidance and sustained action across areas such as:
- Exercise and physical fitness
- Nutrition
- Sleep
- Supplementation
- Emotional wellbeing
- Healthy ageing
- Preventive diagnostics
- Behaviour change and adherence
Our objective is not simply to provide health information, but to help people convert knowledge into measurable action and long-term results.
Role Purpose
The Marketing Manager will build and operate IHL's Referral Engine. This is not a conventional advertising or social-media-only role.
The primary responsibility is to create a powerful network of individuals, professionals, institutions and community influencers who can consistently introduce qualified participants to IHL programmes, workshops and events.
The person should be comfortable spending significant time outside the office meeting potential partners, building relationships, creating collaborations and converting those relationships into participant referrals.
The core question for this role is:
"Who already has the trust of the people IHL wants to reach, and how do we make them our partners?"
Key Responsibilities
1. Build the IHL Referral Network
Identify, approach and onboard potential referral partners including:
- Doctors
- Clinics
- Hospitals
- Diagnostic centres
- Physiotherapists
- Nutritionists
- Pharmacies
- Gyms
- Fitness trainers
- Yoga centres
- Sports clubs
- Running and cycling communities
- Insurance advisors
- Financial advisors
- Senior citizen communities
- Apartment associations
- Resident welfare associations
- Corporate HR teams
- Business associations
- Rotary and Lions Clubs
- Community organisations
- Temples and religious/community institutions
- Salons and wellness centres
- Alumni groups
- NRI networks
- Influencers and community leaders
Build a continuously expanding database of potential referral partners.
2. Develop Referral Partnerships
Meet partners personally and explain:
- What IHL is
- Who IHL is designed for
- What problems IHL attempts to solve
- Why their clients, patients or members may benefit
- How the referral programme works
- How referred participants will be followed up
- How the partner relationship will be maintained The objective is to move partners through:
Prospect → Meeting → Interested → Activated → First Referral → Repeat Referrer → Strategic Partner
3. Generate Qualified Leads
The Marketing Manager will be accountable not merely for meetings or contacts, but for qualified participant leads.
A qualified lead should broadly match the intended IHL participant profile and demonstrate genuine interest in preventive health, longevity or structured lifestyle improvement.
The manager must continuously improve:
Number of Referral Partners × Referrals per Partner × Lead-to-Registration Conversion
4. Activate Dormant Partners
Signing up a referral partner is only the beginning. The manager must maintain continuous engagement through:
- Regular follow-ups
- WhatsApp communication
- Educational content
- Workshop invitations
- Partner meetings
- Participant success stories
- Referral reminders
- Community events
- Health talks
- Co-branded programmes A major KPI will be the percentage of registered partners who actually produce referrals.
5. Develop Institutional Collaborations
Create partnerships where IHL can conduct:
- Health & Longevity talks
- Corporate wellness sessions
- Small workshops
- Screening programmes
- Health awareness programmes
- Community events
- Doctor/clinic collaborations
- Gym collaborations
- Diagnostic partnerships
- Member-exclusive programmes
Each activity should ultimately support the IHL participant acquisition funnel.
6. Manage the Referral Funnel
Maintain accurate tracking of every referral. The Marketing Manager should know at any given time:
- Number of referral partners contacted
- Meetings completed
- Partners activated
- Referrals received
- Qualified leads generated
- Workshop registrations
- Programme conversions
- Conversion rate by partner
- Revenue generated by each referral channel
Decisions should be driven by data rather than assumptions.
7. Build Referral Marketing Materials
Work with the IHL team to create:
- Referral partner presentations
- Brochures
- WhatsApp messages
- Partner onboarding kits
- Posters
- QR-based referral links
- Landing pages
- Referral codes
- Success stories
- Testimonials
- Workshop invitations
- Short educational videos
Every referral source should have an easy way to explain IHL and introduce a prospective participant.
8. Support Workshops and Events
IHL workshops will be an important entry point into the referral funnel. The Marketing Manager will help ensure strong attendance through:
- Referral partners
- Local communities
- Existing participants
- Institutional collaborations
- Digital campaigns
- Direct outreach
They will also interact with attendees, capture leads and ensure systematic post-event follow-up.
9. Build a Participant Referral Programme
Satisfied participants can become one of IHL's strongest growth channels. The Marketing Manager should build systems encouraging:
Participant → Advocate → Referrer → Community Ambassador
This may include
- Referral rewards
- Ambassador programmes
- Bring-a-friend sessions
- Family programmes
- Alumni communities
- Success-story campaigns
10. Lead Local Market Penetration
Initially, the role will require strong on-ground execution in Coimbatore and surrounding communities. The manager should identify micro-markets with high concentrations of the target demographic and build strong local visibility before expanding geographically.
The approach should be
Dominate a small geography first → Build proof → Replicate the model.

Reporting Culture
IHL will operate with a strong execution culture. The Marketing Manager will provide a short Daily Sprint Update covering:
Today
- Meetings completed
- Partners activated
- Referrals received
- Leads generated
- Key learning
Tomorrow
- Meetings planned
- Follow-ups
- Specific targets
Every week should end with one question:
What produced actual referrals this week, and how do we multiply it next week?
Why Join IHL?
This is an opportunity to join IHL at the startup stage and help build the growth engine from the ground up. The person taking this role will not simply inherit an existing marketing system.
They will help design it, test it, measure it and scale it.
For someone interested in entrepreneurship, preventive health and building businesses from zero to one, the learning opportunity can be significant.
IHL Philosophy
Knowledge without action rarely changes health. Our job is to help people move from:
Awareness → Action → Commitment → Measurable Improvement
And the Referral Engine's job is to find the people who are ready to begin that journey.
