Role & responsibilities The Shift In-Charge is a critical leadership role responsible for the safe, compliant, and productive operationduring a designated shift (Day or Night). This role ensures that all production goals, including yield targets, global efficiency (OEE/GE), and quality standards, are consistently met.

Key Responsibilities & Accountabilities

1. Production Management and Efficiency (Global Efficiency & Yield)

- Operational Execution:
- Oversee the entire shift operation, ensuring raw materials are processed into finished goods according to the production schedule and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
- Drive Global Efficiency (GE) / Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE):Actively monitor, manage the key drivers of OEE (Availability, Performance, Quality) to maximize equipment and line utilization. Lead root cause analysis (RCA) for major downtime and performance losses along with CTS compliance.
- Yield Optimization:Implement and enforce process controls to minimize waste, rework, and spoilage at every stage of the manufacturing process, ensuring the highest possible product yield from raw inputs.
- Resource Management:Effectively manage and allocate labor, materials, and equipment to optimize throughput and meet hourly/daily targets.
- Data and Reporting (Day and Night):
- Ensure all shift production data, including downtime, output and critical issues encountered are accurately recorded on shift basis.

2. Quality, Food Safety, and Compliance

- Strict Adherence to Standards: Ensure all operations comply with stringent regulatory and internal standards, including but not limited rework management, GMPs (Good Manufacturing Practices), and internal QA specifications.

- Quality Control:Oversee the execution of all in-process quality checks (e.g., weight, temperature, metal detection, visual inspection) and non-conforming product.
- Deviation Handling:Promptly investigate and document any deviations, quality failures, or critical control point (CCP) breaches, initiating corrective and preventive actions (CAPA) as necessary.
- Hygiene and Sanitation:Ensure the shift adheres to the highest level of cleanliness and sanitation standards, coordinating with the sanitation team for effective end-of-shift cleaning.

3. Team Leadership and Shift Handling

- Shift Management:Act as the direct supervisor for all production, packing, and auxiliary staff on the assigned shift.
- Team Development:Provide coaching, mentorship, and daily performance feedback to team members. Identify and implement training needs to enhance operator competence and flexibility (cross-training).
- Labor Planning:Manage shift attendance and flow to work to maintain continuous operation.
- Communication and Coordination:
- Serve as the primary point of contact during the shift, effectively communicating operational status and needs to Maintenance, Quality Assurance, Logistics, and Management.
- Lead pre-shift briefings, DMS to clearly define goals, review performance, and communicate critical information.

4.

Maintenance and Safety (OHS)

- Safety Leadership:Instill a proactive safety culture. Conduct regular safety walks, enforce Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures, and ensure all team members wear appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
- Incident Management:Promptly investigate all safety incidents, near misses, and workplace injuries. Document (RCA Why- Why analysis) findings thoroughly and implement controls to prevent recurrence.
- Maintenance Liaison:Coordinate with the maintenance team to prioritize and schedule essential preventative maintenance (PM)and emergency breakdown repairs to minimize impact on production targets.

5. Continuous Improvement

- Process Optimization:Actively seek out and propose improvements to existing processes, equipment, and work methodologies to boost efficiency, reduce costs, and enhance quality.
- IL6S : Actively work on SGA and navigate all losses and improvement through SGAs. Support and lead small-scale Continuous Improvement projects (e.g., 5S initiatives, waste reduction programs) within the shift, fostering employee engagement in improvement activities along with SGA teams.

Core Competencies

- Decision Making Under Pressure:Ability to quickly assess complex situations (e.g., equipment breakdown, quality deviation) and make sound, timely decisions that minimize business impact.
- Communication:Excellent verbal and written communication skills to articulate complex operational details, conduct effective training, and liaise clearly with SFCs and management.
- Accountability:Takes full ownership of the shift's results in safety, quality, and production.
