Manager- Proprietary (CLPL- CDMM)

Job Purpose To develop and industrialize Mechanical Proprietary parts like Mechanical & Electronic Throttle body (MTB & ETB)/Lambda sensor/Electronic Control Unit (ECU)/ Spark plug/ Fuel Pump assy/Injector/ABS system for two-wheelers ensuring quality, durability, cost optimization, and timely project execution.

Key Responsibilities

1. Component Development

Lead end-to-end development of Mechanical Proprietary for 2W applications (Engine and Vehicle parts). Work on recent product development (NPD), localization, and design change activities.

Ensure technical specifications, drawings, and manufacturing requirements to be met.

1. Supplier Development

Identify, evaluate, and develop suppliers for Mechanical & Electronic Throttle body (MTB & ETB)/Lambda sensor/Electronic Control Unit (ECU)/ Spark plug/ Fuel Pump assy/Injector. Drive APQP, PPAP approvals with suppliers.

Ensure supplier readiness for mass production.

1. Manufacturing Process Management

Monitor and optimize key processes: Casting, Machining, Electronics PCB, Rubber & Plastic moulding, Tubular parts manufacturing.

Heat treatment (carburizing, hardening, tempering, nitriding)

Surface finishing (Plating/painting/powder coating)

Ensure adherence to process capability (Cp, Cpk).

1. Quality & Validation

Plan and execute validation activities:

Metallurgical checks

Dimensional inspection

DVP testing & Validation





Analyse field failures and implement corrective actions.

Implement 8D, root cause analysis, and continuous improvements.

1. Cost Optimization

Drive cost reduction initiatives through:

VA/VE activities

Process improvements

Material optimization

Support localization and alternate sourcing strategies.

1. Project Management

Track project timelines, milestones, and deliverables. Coordinate with cross-functional teams (Design, Quality, Purchase, Production).

Ensure timely SOP (Start of Production).

1. Documentation & Compliance

Maintain technical documentation:

Drawings

Specifications

PPAP documents

Key Skills Required

Technical Skills

Strong understanding of:

Proprietary parts handling/TSO closure/Development tracking wrt PPAP & APQP gateways

Metallurgy of Electronics/Casting/Rubber/plastic

Knowledge of:

GD&T;

APQP, PPAP, FMEA, SPC, MSA

Analytical Skills

Root cause analysis (RCA)

Problem-solving using 8D, Fishbone, 5 Why

Data-driven decision making

Soft Skills

Strong communication and coordination

Supplier handling & negotiation

Project management capability

Qualifications

Education: B.E./B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering

Experience: 4–8 years (preferably in 2W / automotive transmission components)

Preferred Experience

Experience in 2W OEM or Tier-1 supplier

Exposure to Engine & transmission systems

Experience in supplier quality/development roles
