Position Overview The Machine Learning Engineer – Tribe AI will join the ISPL ITG Fortis ADM unit of BNP Paribas Fortis, operating from the Chennai delivery centre while synchronising with the Brussels‑based AI Tribe. In this role you will be responsible for industrialising AI solutions, turning data‑science prototypes into reliable, scalable, production‑grade machine‑learning services. Acting as the key bridge between Data Scientists, IT Production, and security teams, you will champion MLOps best practices, enforce code‑quality and security standards, and ensure a seamless flow from model development to deployment across the bank’s AI ecosystem.

Job Responsibilities

- Design, build, and optimise data‑sourcing pipelines (ETL, CFT, Denodo, Airflow) for AI/ML use cases; integrate current internal/external APIs, databases and streaming sources in line with data‑governance and latency targets.
- Maintain and audit Python environments (uv, pip, mamba/micromamba); upgrade obsolete libraries and ensure version compatibility across dev, test and prod.
- Conduct regular vulnerability scans, apply security patches, and automate compliance checks in CI/CD pipelines to block vulnerable code.
- Support CI/CD workflows (Jenkins, GitLab CI/CD) for containerised ML models (Docker/Kubernetes); manage versioning, roll‑backs and deployments.
- Troubleshoot and resolve incidents in QA/Production, coordinating with the PROD IT team to minimise downtime.
- Collaborate with Data Scientists and production teams to define production‑ready architectures that meet real‑time and high‑volume requirements.




- Promote software‑engineering standards: code quality, secure coding, comprehensive logging and monitoring.
- Stay current on AI/ML advances (LLMs, agentic AI) and propose innovations that accelerate time‑to‑market.

Required Education, Skills, AND Experience (MUST‑HAVE)

- Master’s degree (or equivalent) in Computer Science, IT or a related field; minimum 6 years of professional experience.
- ≥ 4 years of expert‑level Python programming (OOP, decorators, performance optimisation, security).
- Strong command of Python environment tooling (uv, pip, mamba/micromamba).
- Proven MLOps expertise: model versioning, deployment, CI/CD, Docker, Kubernetes (scaling, resource management).
- Hands‑on experience with Jenkins and/or GitLab CI/CD (advanced workflows, artifact handling).
- Linux/Cloud administration skills (Bash scripting, system troubleshooting).
- Deep knowledge of PostgreSQL (query optimisation, schema design).
- Proficiency with Denodo Platform: configuring virtual data layers, creating logical views, data services, API integrations, and writing efficient VQL.
- Advanced Airflow skills: DAG design, custom operators/hooks, integration with Denodo, PostgreSQL, S3, MLflow/Kubeflow, performance tuning (parallelism, executor selection,



XCom handling).
- Strong SQL capabilities for both relational databases and Denodo’s VQL.
- Excellent written and spoken English; comfortable collaborating in Agile squads and communicating across multiple stakeholder groups.
- Proven proactive mindset and ability to work autonomously within a distributed team.

Preferred Education, Skills, AND Experience (NICE‑TO‑HAVE)

- Experience designing RESTful APIs with Django or similar frameworks.
- Familiarity with distributed processing frameworks (Spark, Hadoop) and large‑scale ETL/ELT pipelines.
- Knowledge of model compression techniques (quantisation, pruning) for edge or low‑latency deployments.
- Exposure to data‑visualisation and monitoring stacks (Kafka, ELK, Grafana, Kibana) for building operational dashboards.
- Background in developing or maintaining AI‑enabled virtual assistants or employee‑productivity tools.
- Prior experience in a banking or regulated financial‑services environment, with an understanding of relevant data‑governance and security standards.
