About Ridown Technology:

Ridown Technology is a leading Managed Service Provider (MSP) based in Gurugram, India, delivering comprehensive IT and business support services to a diverse portfolio of companies. As part of the Ridown Group, we support brands including Onestream, WeBuyAnyPhone.com and CyberSentry , providing expertise across IT infrastructure, cloud services, cybersecurity, customer support, and business operations. Our focus is on delivering efficient, scalable, and innovative solutions that enable our partner companies to concentrate on their core business while we manage the operational backbone.

About the Role:

We are looking for an exceptional Lead QA Engineer to take full ownership of quality across our web platforms, APIs and mobile applications.

This is not a traditional manual testing role. The priority is to improve how we approach quality, strengthen our release processes and build an effective automation strategy that reduces the need for repetitive manual testing.

You will lead the QA function, set standards across the development team and ensure quality is built into the delivery process from the outset. You will remain technically hands-on where needed, particularly with automation, complex testing and release validation, but your main responsibility will be to create a scalable and reliable quality framework.

We are looking for someone with strong leadership, sound technical judgement and a proven record of transforming QA processes. The successful candidate will be expected to raise standards, challenge existing ways of working and drive measurable improvements in release confidence and product quality.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Quality Strategy and Leadership:

● Own and develop the overall QA strategy across web, API and mobile products.

● Define clear quality standards, test processes and release criteria.

● Build quality into requirements, development and delivery rather than relying on testing at the end of a sprint.

● Lead, support and develop the QA team, setting clear expectations around performance, ownership and continuous improvement.

● Work with technical leads, developers, product owners and business analysts to identify risks early.

● Challenge incomplete requirements, weak acceptance criteria and unsuitable release decisions.

● Establish clear accountability for quality across the wider development team.

● Provide reliable reporting on quality, automation coverage, release risk and outstanding defects.

● Own release readiness and provide clear evidence-based recommendations before deployment.

2. Test Automation

● Define and deliver a comprehensive automation strategy using Playwright as the primary framework.

● Design and maintain scalable automated coverage across web applications, APIs and key end-to-end journeys.

● Reduce reliance on manual regression testing through reliable and maintainable automation.

● Identify which tests should be automated and which require targeted manual or exploratory testing.

● Ensure automation is integrated into CI/CD pipelines and forms part of the release process.

● Set standards for test structure, code quality, maintenance and reporting.

● Review automation failures, identify flaky tests and ensure the test suite remains trusted.

● Measure the effectiveness of automation based on risk coverage and release confidence, not test volume alone.

● Introduce appropriate supporting tools for visual regression, performance, mobile or security testing where required.

3. Process Improvement

● Review existing QA processes and identify weaknesses, duplication and unnecessary manual effort

● Improve test planning, defect management, regression coverage and release sign-off.

● Introduce risk-based testing to focus effort on the area's most likely to affect customers or the business. ● Improve collaboration between QA, development and product teams.

● Lead root cause analysis for escaped defects and ensure lessons result in process changes.

● Establish meaningful quality metrics and use them to drive continuous improvement.

● Ensure recurring defects are addressed at source rather than repeatedly tested around.

● Improve test environments, test data and tooling to support faster and more reliable delivery.

4. AI Utilisation

● Use AI tools to improve test planning, automation development, test coverage, defect analysis and exploratory testing.

● Demonstrate a proven record of applying AI effectively within real QA and engineering workflows.

● Identify practical opportunities to reduce manual effort and improve consistency through AI.

● Establish appropriate standards and controls for AI use within QA.

● Help the wider team adopt AI-assisted testing without compromising quality, security or maintainability. ● Continuously assess new tools and approaches that could improve the efficiency of the QA function.

5. Hands-on Quality Assurance

● Remain technically involved in the most complex, high-risk or business-critical areas.

● Create or review test plans for major features and releases.

● Perform targeted exploratory testing where automation is not suitable.

● Test web applications, APIs and mobile applications when specialist investigation is required.

● Reproduce and investigate complex defects using logs, databases, API responses and other diagnostic tools.

● Review automated tests and contribute directly where technical complexity requires it.

● Support production incident investigation and root cause analysis.

Required Experience:

● At least five years of professional software QA experience.

● Proven experience in a senior, lead or QA management role.

● Extensive experience designing and implementing test automation strategies.

● Strong practical experience with Playwright.

● Proven success reducing manual regression effort through automation.

● Experience testing web applications, APIs and mobile applications.

● Strong knowledge of modern QA practices, risk-based testing and release governance.

● Experience improving or transforming an existing QA function.

● Proven experience leading and developing QA engineers.

● Strong understanding of CI/CD and automated quality gates.

● Experience integrating automated tests into deployment pipelines.

● Strong API testing experience.

● Good knowledge of JavaScript or TypeScript for automation.

● Experience with Git and modern development workflows.

● Working knowledge of SQL and database validation.

● Proven experience using AI tools within QA, automation or software delivery.

● Solid written and verbal communication skills.

● The confidence to challenge senior stakeholders and stop releases when the evidence does not support deployment.

Desirable Experience:

● Experience within cybersecurity, VPN, networking or security-focused products.

● Experience testing multi-tenant SaaS platforms.

● Experience with mobile automation across Android and iOS.

● Experience with performance and load testing.

● Experience with visual regression testing.

● Experience with application security testing.

● Experience working with distributed development teams.

● Experience introducing quality metrics and reporting at leadership level.

What We Are Looking For:

We are looking for someone who sets a high standard and expects the same from others.

You will be proactive, technically strong and comfortable taking full ownership of quality. You should be able to identify weaknesses in both software and process, then put practical improvements in place.

You must be able to balance leadership with technical credibility. Although this is not primarily a manual testing role, you should be capable of stepping into complex testing or automation work when required.

The right person will not be satisfied with simply finding defects. They will improve the process, so those defects are less likely to occur, are detected earlier and require less manual effort to identify.

Measures of Success:

Success in this role will include:

● A significant reduction in manual regression testing.

● Reliable Playwright coverage across critical customer journeys.

● Fewer high-impact defects reaching production.

● Earlier identification of risks and requirement gaps.

● Clearer release criteria and stronger release governance.

● Improved accountability for quality across development and QA.

● Faster and more reliable releases.

● Effective use of AI to improve QA efficiency and coverage.

● A QA function that is scalable, measurable and trusted.

What We Offer:

● Friendly and supportive work environment.

● Both-side cab facility.

● Shift Timings: 1:00 PM 10:00 PM and 2:00 PM 11:00 PM.

● Continuous learning and development opportunities.

● Excellent career growth and internal mobility.
