Role & responsibilities

(JD) Dialysis Technician

Job Title: Dialysis Technician

Department: Clinical / Dialysis Unit

Reports To: Dialysis In-charge / Unit Head / Nephrologist

Location: Dialysis Centre / Hospital

Job Purpose To provide safe, effective, and compassionate dialysis care to patients by operating dialysis equipment, monitoring patients during treatment, maintaining infection-control standards, and supporting the clinical team.

Key Responsibilities

- Prepare and check dialysis machines, RO systems, dialyzers, consumables, and other required equipment before treatment.
- Perform dialysis procedures as per physician orders and established clinical protocols.
- Monitor patients' vital signs and clinical condition before, during, and after dialysis.
- Identify and promptly report complications or abnormal patient conditions to the nurse/doctor.
- Ensure proper vascular-access care, including AV fistula, graft, and catheter handling as per protocol.
- Follow strict infection-prevention and biomedical-waste-management practices.
- Maintain accurate patient treatment records, machine records, and other required documentation.
- Perform machine disinfection and routine maintenance checks according to SOPs.
- Ensure availability and proper storage of dialysis consumables and emergency equipment.
- Provide basic patient education regarding dialysis procedures, hygiene, diet/fluid restrictions,



and treatment compliance.
- Maintain patient safety, privacy, dignity, and comfort throughout the treatment.
- Coordinate effectively with nurses, nephrologists, and other healthcare staff.
- Follow all hospital/company policies, SOPs, quality standards, and statutory requirements.

Qualification
- Diploma/B.Sc. in Dialysis Technology / Dialysis Therapy Technology or equivalent recognized qualification.
- Relevant registration/certification, wherever applicable.

Experience
- Freshers can be considered depending on organizational requirements.
- Experience in a dialysis centre/hospital is preferred.

Key Skills
- Knowledge of hemodialysis procedures and dialysis machines.
- Knowledge of vascular access and infection-control practices.
- Patient monitoring and emergency-response skills.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work in shifts and handle emergency situations.
- Teamwork, discipline, empathy, and attention to detail.

Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
- Patient safety and quality of dialysis treatment.
- Compliance with clinical SOPs and infection-control standards.
- Accurate and timely documentation.
- Machine/equipment readiness and proper maintenance.
- Patient satisfaction and qualified conduct.
- Compliance with safety and quality audits.
