– INCOMING QUALITY INSPECTOR
Designation: Incoming Quality Inspector
Department: Quality Assurance / Incoming Quality

Experience: 2–3 Years
Qualification: Diploma / B.E. / B.Tech – Mechanical / Production / Metallurgy
Reporting To: Quality Engineer / Quality Manager
1. Job Purpose
To inspect and verify all incoming raw materials, components, tools and consumables as per approved specifications, drawings and quality standards, ensuring that only conforming materials are released for production.
1. Key ResponsibilitiesA. Incoming Material Inspection
- Inspect incoming steel wire rods, bars, raw materials and bought-out components as per specifications.
- Verify material quantity, identification, grade, size, heat number and supplier details.
- Check Mill Test Certificates (MTC), inspection certificates and other relevant documents.
- Perform dimensional and visual inspection of incoming materials.
- Identify non-conforming materials and ensure proper segregation and identification.
B. Fastener Raw Material & Process Knowledge
- Basic knowledge of raw materials used in cold forging / cold heading fasteners.
- Understanding of material grades, wire diameter, surface condition and mechanical properties.
- Knowledge of the incoming requirements related to:
- Cold Forging
- Thread Rolling
- Heat Treatment
- Surface Treatment
- Coordinate with production and quality teams regarding material suitability for manufacturing.
C. Dimensional Inspection Carry out inspection using appropriate measuring instruments such as:
- Vernier Caliper
- Micrometer
- Height Gauge
- Dial Gauge
- Thread Gauges
- Plug & Ring Gauges
- Go / No-Go Gauges
- Hardness Testing Equipment
- Weighing and other inspection instruments
Ensure measuring instruments are calibrated and used correctly. D. Documentation & Records
Maintain
- Incoming Inspection Reports (IIR)
- Material Inspection Reports
- Supplier inspection records.
- MTC verification records.
- Non-Conformance Reports (NCR).
- Rejection / deviation records.
- Inspection check sheets.
- Material traceability records.
Ensure inspection results are properly recorded and traceable. E. Supplier Quality Coordination
- Inform the Quality Engineer / Manager regarding supplier-related quality issues.
- Support supplier complaint and rejection analysis.
- Provide inspection data for supplier performance evaluation.
- Monitor repeated defects from suppliers.
- Support corrective and preventive action follow-up with suppliers.
F. Non-Conforming Material Control
- Identify and segregate rejected / doubtful materials.
- Ensure proper identification, tagging and quarantine of non-conforming material.
- Raise NCRs for materials not meeting specified requirements.
- Coordinate with Stores, Purchase, Production and Quality for disposition of rejected material.
G. Quality System & Compliance
- Follow company Quality Management System (QMS) procedures.
- Follow applicable customer-specific requirements and inspection standards.
- Understand basic requirements of IATF 16949 / ISO 9001.
- Follow applicable ASTM / ISO / DIN / JIS / customer specifications.
- Maintain proper traceability of incoming materials.
1. Required Knowledge
- Basic knowledge of fastener manufacturing processes.
- Knowledge of cold forging / cold heading and thread rolling.
- Basic knowledge of heat treatment and surface treatment processes.
- Knowledge of engineering drawings and specifications.
- Understanding of tolerances and dimensional requirements.
- Knowledge of measuring instruments and gauges.
- Basic knowledge of material grades and MTC verification.
- Knowledge of basic quality tools and inspection methods.
1. Required Skills
- Positive inspection and measurement skills.
- Ability to read engineering drawings.
- Attention to detail.
- Good documentation skills.
- Basic knowledge of MS Excel and MS Office.
- Good communication and coordination skills.
- Ability to identify quality issues and escalate them promptly.
- Strong understanding of traceability and material identification.
1. Educational Qualification
Diploma / B.E. / B.Tech in Mechanical, Production, Metallurgy or related engineering discipline.
1. Experience
2–3 years of relevant experience in Incoming Quality / Supplier Quality / Inspection, preferably in:
- Fasteners manufacturing
- Automotive components
- Cold forging / cold heading
- Thread rolling
- Forging
- Machining
- Steel / wire rod inspection
Pay: ₹20,000.00 - ₹25,000.00 per month
