Job SummaryWe are seeking a responsible, approachable, and experienced Hostel Warden to manage the day-to-day operations of our university hostel. The successful candidate will ensure student safety and welfare, maintain discipline, supervise hostel services, and create a supportive residential environment.
The position requires the ability to handle student concerns sensitively, coordinate with various departments, and respond promptly to emergencies.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage daily hostel operations and ensure a safe, clean, and comfortable setting.
- Maintain discipline and ensure compliance with hostel and university regulations.
- Supervise room allotment, student attendance, leave requests, visitors, and hostel records.
- Conduct regular inspections of student rooms, common areas, dining facilities, and hostel premises.
- Address student concerns, complaints, and welfare-related matters.
- Coordinate with parents, faculty members, counsellors, security personnel, and university authorities when required.
- Respond promptly to medical, safety, security, and other emergencies.
- Monitor housekeeping, maintenance, catering, sanitation, and security services.
- Prevent and report ragging, harassment, substance abuse, violence, and other misconduct.
- Organise hostel meetings, orientation sessions, and student engagement activities.
- Maintain records of incidents, disciplinary matters, hostel assets, and maintenance requirements.
- Prepare and submit periodic hostel administration reports.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in any discipline; a postgraduate qualification is preferred.
- Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in hostel administration, student affairs, residential schools, universities, defence services, or similar environments.
- Prior experience in an educational institution is preferred.
- Basic proficiency in MS Office and digital record keeping.
- Ability to communicate effectively in English and the local language.
