About the Role

As the Head of Placements, you will own the complete student career journey — from understanding a student's aspirations and identifying suitable career paths to industry exposure, internships, gigs, and ultimately placements.

This is a leadership + hands-on execution role. You will be expected to build strong relationships with business leaders and organisations, create opportunities for students, mentor the placements team, and establish systems that consistently drive strong career outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

? Student Career Success

- Own student career outcomes from the beginning of their journey at LIT through placement.
- Understand individual student aspirations, strengths, skills, and interests and help them identify suitable career paths.
- Build structured career-readiness journeys including mentoring, industry exposure, internships, projects, gigs, and placements.
- Act as a career mentor and guide students through key career decisions.
- Identify opportunities that help students gain real-world experience and build strong portfolios.
- Track student progress and intervene early where additional support is required.

? Industry & Employer Partnerships
- Build and maintain a strong network of business leaders, founders, hiring managers, HR leaders, and organisations.
- Develop long-term relationships with companies across relevant industries and functions.
- Create a strong pipeline of internships, live projects, freelance opportunities, gigs, and full time roles.
- Leverage existing professional networks to open new opportunities for LIT students.
- Represent LIT with industry partners and position the institution as a strong talent pipeline.

? Placements & Career Opportunities
- Own the end-to-end placement process, from employer outreach and opportunity identification to student selection and final placement.
- Develop and manage a robust employer database and placement pipeline.




- Understand market demand and align student skill development with emerging roles.
- Create opportunities across different career paths based on student capabilities and industry requirements.
- Monitor placement metrics, including internships, gigs, interviews, offers, and final placements.

? Leadership & Operations
- Build, manage, and mentor the placements and career services team.
- Establish clear processes, SOPs, KPIs, and systems for the placements function.
- Work closely with the Program, Curriculum, Admissions, and Student Success teams to ensure career outcomes are integrated into the student journey.
- Own placement reporting, dashboards, employer engagement metrics, and student outcome tracking.
- Identify gaps in the current process and continuously improve the overall career services function.
- Balance strategic leadership with hands-on execution and personally drive critical employer and student relationships.

What We’re Looking For

- 3+ years of experience in placements, career services, talent acquisition, business development, or a similar role.
- Strong experience in EdTech, higher education, skilling, or career-focused organisations.
- A strong professional network with business leaders, founders, companies, organisations, and hiring decision-makers.
- Proven experience in building employer partnerships and creating career opportunities.
- Strong understanding of the hiring landscape, emerging roles, and industry requirements.

Success in this role will be measured not only by the number of placements but by the quality of career outcomes created for students — including meaningful internships, gigs, projects, mentorship, industry exposure, and relevant full-time opportunities.
