Mechanical

Maintenance

- Lead mechanical maintenance activities for the complete stainless steel tube manufacturing facility.

- Ensure reliable operation of Extrusion Presses, Pilger Mills, Drawbenches and associated tube processing equipment.

- Develop and implement preventive, predictive and condition-based maintenance programs.

- Monitor equipment health and identify potential failures before breakdowns occur.

- Ensure quick and effective troubleshooting of critical mechanical breakdowns.

- Analyze recurring breakdowns and implement permanent corrective actions.

1. Extrusion Press Maintenance

- Ensure maintenance and reliability of hydraulic/mechanical extrusion presses.

- Monitor hydraulic systems, cylinders, pumps, valves, seals, bearings, guides, tooling systems and associated equipment.

- Coordinate planned shutdowns and major overhauls of extrusion presses.

- Improve equipment availability and reduce unplanned downtime.

1. Pilger Mill Maintenance

- Lead maintenance of cold pilger mills and associated equipment.

- Ensure proper maintenance of rolls, dies, drives, gearboxes, bearings, shafts, lubrication systems and mechanical assemblies.

- Monitor vibration, alignment, lubrication and wear of critical components.

- Drive root-cause analysis for recurring Pilger mill failures.

1. Drawbench Maintenance

- Manage mechanical maintenance of drawbenches and tube drawing systems.

- Ensure reliability of draw heads, chains, hydraulic systems, drives, gearboxes, bearings, dies, clamps and material handling systems.

- Maintain equipment alignment and accuracy to support dimensional and quality requirements.

1. Utilities & Ancillary Equipment

- Oversee maintenance of mechanical utilities and plant infrastructure, including:

- Air compressors and air distribution systems

- Hydraulic systems

- Pumps and piping systems

- Cooling water systems
- Cranes and material handling equipment

- Heat treatment and furnace-related mechanical systems

- Gearboxes, conveyors and other auxiliary equipment

Preventive & Predictive Maintenance

- Prepare annual, monthly and daily maintenance plans.

- Establish equipment-wise maintenance schedules and checklists.

- Implement condition monitoring techniques such as vibration analysis, thermography, lubrication monitoring and oil analysis.

- Track MTBF, MTTR, equipment availability and maintenance cost.

- Identify critical equipment and develop reliability improvement plans.

1. Breakdown & Root Cause Analysis

- Lead major breakdown investigations and Root Cause Analysis (RCA).

- Implement corrective and preventive actions to eliminate repeat failures.

- Maintain breakdown history and analyze trends.

- Reduce mechanical downtime and improve overall equipment effectiveness.

1. Maintenance Planning & Spares

- Plan maintenance manpower, resources and shutdown activities.

- Identify critical mechanical spares and maintain optimum inventory levels.

- Coordinate with procurement and stores for timely availability of critical spares.

- Standardize spares and explore opportunities for cost reduction through indigenous development and refurbishment.

1. Safety & Compliance

- Ensure strict compliance with plant safety procedures during maintenance activities.

- Implement LOTO, work permits and safe maintenance practices.

- Ensure compliance with statutory requirements related to mechanical equipment.

- Conduct regular safety audits and toolbox meetings for the maintenance team.

1. Team Leadership

- Lead and develop the mechanical maintenance team comprising engineers, supervisors, technicians and contract manpower.

- Allocate manpower according to plant priorities.

- Develop technical skills through training and knowledge-sharing programs.

- Set performance objectives and monitor team performance.

1. Continuous Improvement

- Drive initiatives for reduction in breakdowns, maintenance costs, energy consumption and spare consumption.

- Implement TPM, Kaizen, 5S and reliability improvement practices.

- Evaluate recent maintenance technologies and automation opportunities.

- Benchmark maintenance practices against industry standards
