Position Overview

We are looking for an experienced General Manager Operations & Machine Maintenance to lead the overall manufacturing operations and maintenance function for the Solid Tyres business in Chennai. The role will be responsible for driving production excellence, machine availability, maintenance reliability, productivity, quality, cost optimisation and operational efficiency across the plant.

The ideal candidate should have strong experience in tyre, rubber, polymer, automotive component or process manufacturing, with hands-on exposure to large-scale manufacturing operations and critical production equipment.

- Should have 20-22 Yrs experience. Should have head the plant operations for at least 10 years.
- Should have engineering/Mc maintenance background
- Should have knowledge in TPM, TQM, ISO 9001:2015 and IATF
- Worked in renowned companies like Rane, Brakes India, TVS group of companies etc.
- Should be resident of Chennai
- Willing to relocate to Maraimalainagar preferable

Key Responsibilities

Manufacturing Operations

- Lead end-to-end manufacturing operations for the Solid Tyres plant.
- Drive production planning, capacity utilisation, productivity and operational efficiency.
- Ensure achievement of production targets while maintaining quality and delivery commitments.
- Optimise manpower, machine utilisation, production flow and process efficiency.
- Drive Lean Manufacturing, TPM, 5S, Kaizen and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Identify bottlenecks and implement measures to improve throughput and OEE.
- Establish and monitor plant-level KPIs for Safety, Quality, Delivery, Cost and Productivity.

Machine Maintenance & Engineering

- Lead preventive,



predictive and breakdown maintenance activities for plant machinery.
- Ensure maximum machine availability and minimum unplanned downtime.
- Develop and implement annual maintenance plans, shutdown schedules and maintenance budgets.
- Improve MTBF and MTTR across critical production equipment.
- Lead root-cause analysis for recurring machine breakdowns and implement permanent corrective actions.
- Ensure availability of critical spares, utilities and engineering resources.
- Manage maintenance of hydraulic, pneumatic, electrical, mechanical and automation systems.
- Drive condition monitoring and predictive maintenance practices.
- Evaluate opportunities for machine upgrades, automation and technology improvements.

People & Leadership

- Lead and mentor Production, Maintenance, Engineering and Manufacturing teams.
- Build a high-performance culture focused on accountability, safety and continuous improvement.
- Develop departmental manpower plans and competency-building programmes.
- Guide plant managers, production managers, maintenance managers and engineering teams.
- Coordinate effectively with HR, Quality, Supply Chain, Purchase, Finance and Commercial functions.

Safety, Quality & Compliance

- Ensure strict compliance with EHS, statutory and company safety requirements.
- Drive zero-accident initiatives and safe working practices.
- Ensure adherence to quality systems and customer requirements.
- Participate in audits and ensure timely closure of corrective and preventive actions.
- Promote a strong culture of operational discipline and workplace safety.

Cost & Business Improvement





- Prepare and manage annual operating and maintenance budgets.
- Drive cost reduction through energy optimisation, spares management, productivity improvement and waste reduction.
- Evaluate capital expenditure requirements for machinery, automation and plant improvements.
- Track manufacturing costs and implement initiatives to improve overall plant profitability.

Desired Experience

- 1825 years of experience in Manufacturing Operations and Machine Maintenance.
- Strong experience in Solid Tyres / Tyres / Rubber / Polymer / Automotive Components / Process Manufacturing.
- Proven experience managing large manufacturing plants and multidisciplinary teams.
- Solid exposure to TPM, OEE, Lean Manufacturing, Kaizen, RCA, FMEA and preventive/predictive maintenance.
- Experience with high-speed production machinery, hydraulic/pneumatic systems, electrical systems and industrial automation.
- Strong understanding of plant utilities, engineering services and maintenance systems.
- Experience in CAPEX planning, project execution and equipment commissioning will be preferred.
