Role & responsibilities
PwCs Business Partnering teams work hand-in-hand with our employees across the business, informing leaders on key decisions that drive business performance and shape engagements. At PwC, the Finance function plays a critical role in supporting strategic decision-making and enabling business performance across the firm. The team partners closely with business leadership to provide insight, challenge, and direction on financial performance, resourcing, and planning. This role sits within the Finance Business Partnering team, working across UK Line of Service (LoS) leadership groups in a highly collaborative, fast-paced environment. The ideal candidate must have genuine Business Partnering experience—not a background limited to managing outsourced FP&A; teams delivering predefined reports far removed from the business. As the function scales, this individual needs to deeply understand what excellent Business Partnering looks like to drive performance and develop future Business Partnering Managers from within the team. The primary focus of this Manager role is to lead and manage a growing team of Senior Associates (currently 9, scaling up to 20) to deliver high-quality Business Partnering support to their stakeholders, ensuring strong operational performance, consistency, and continuous improvement across Business Partnering activities. We are seeking a Manager with 5+ years' experience in Finance, ideally within FP&A; or Finance Business Partnering, with strong experience in managing teams, driving performance, and delivering through others. Candidates should have hands-on Business Partnering experience, rather than those whose background is rooted in running outsourced FP&A; operations with limited business interaction.
As the team grows this role requires someone who can set the standard for Business Partnering excellence and develop Senior Associates. This role is suited to someone who:
- Brings a solid grounding in financial management, including performance reporting, forecasting,
and analytics
- Has Business Partnering experience in complex, global matrix organisations
- Demonstrates strong capability in leading, structuring, and developing teams across multiple LoS or locations
- Is confident engaging, influencing, and building relationships with senior stakeholders and business leaders
- Has experience in defining KPIs, tracking performance, and driving accountability across teams
- Has Aa relevant finance qualification such as
- A relevant finance qualification such as CA, ACA, CIMA or ACCA
This is a leadership-led role, where success is defined by the ability to manage people, drive performance standards, and ensure consistent, high-quality delivery of finance services, rather than direct ownership of individual outputs. The manager on this team is responsible for leading a team of SAs, therefore will have the following responsibilities.
- Lead, manage, and develop a team, ensuring high performance, engagement, and retention
- Set clear objectives and expectations aligned to business priorities
- Implement robust performance management frameworks, including a continuous process of planning, goal setting, coaching/training and assessment.
- Manage regular reviews, feedback, and development plans
- Coach and mentor team members to build capability in financial analysis, business partnering, and stakeholder engagement
- Identify and effectively manage poor performance ensuring appropriate steps are taken
- Manage resourcing across the team such as work allocation, and succession planning
- Drive a culture of accountability, ownership, and continuous improvement
Delivery Oversight & KPI Management
- Oversee the delivery of all finance outputs (reporting, forecasting, analysis), ensuring quality, consistency, and timeliness
- Establish and maintain KPIs and performance metrics to track team output and service effectiveness
- Monitor delivery against SLAs and KPIs, identifying and addressing performance gaps
- Ensure standardisation of processes and outputs across the team
- Act as escalation point for issues, risks, or delivery challenges
Stakeholder Management & Business Partnering
- Act as a trusted advisor to LoS leadership, building strong and credible relationships
- Engage regularly with stakeholders to understand business priorities and requirements
Operational Excellence & Continuous Improvement
- Drive continuous improvement across service delivery
- Identify opportunities to increase efficiency, standardisation, and automation
- Lead or contribute to finance transformation initiatives and operational changes
- Ensure adherence to governance, controls, and best practices
Experience
- ~5–6 years’ experience managing teams in a shared services or centralised finance environment
- Proven experience of leading, developing, and performance managing teams
- Strong experience in setting KPIs, tracking performance, and driving delivery excellence
- Experience working with global senior stakeholders and leadership teams
- Track record of influencing decision-making and driving business outcomes
Skills
- Strong leadership capability, with a focus on coaching, mentoring, and performance management
- Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to influence at senior levels
- Ability to manage competing priorities and ensure delivery through others in a fast-paced environment
