Job Responsibilities1. Maintain day-to-day accounting entries The candidate will record all regular business transactions in the accounting system, such as:
- Sales entries
- Purchase entries
- Cash receipts and payments
- Bank transactions
- Expenses
- Journal entries
- Credit and debit transactions
The candidate must ensure that every transaction is entered correctly and supported by proper bills or documents.
1. Handle Purchase and Sales Invoices
The accountant will:
- Enter purchase invoices into Tally.
- Prepare and record sales invoices.
- Check invoice details such as GST, quantity, amount, and customer/vendor information.
- Maintain proper records of invoices.
- Check for duplicate or incorrect invoices.
1. Handle Receipts and Payments
The candidate will record money received from customers and payments made to vendors or other parties.
For example
- Customer pays ₹50,000 → record the receipt.
- Company pays a supplier ₹25,000 → record the payment.
The accountant should maintain proper cash and bank records.
1. Maintain Ledgers
A ledger contains all transactions related to a particular customer, supplier, expense, bank account, etc.
The accountant will
- Create and maintain ledger accounts in Tally.
- Check outstanding customer balances.
- Check supplier outstanding balances.
- Identify differences or incorrect entries.
- Keep ledger balances accurate.
1. Bank Reconciliation
The accountant will compare the company's bank statement with the transactions recorded in Tally.
They need to identify
- Missing bank entries
- Bank charges
- Cheques issued but not cleared
- Amounts received but not yet reflected
- Any mismatch between Tally and the bank statement
The objective is to ensure that the bank balance in the books matches the actual bank position.
1. GST and Tax-Related Accounting Support
The candidate should have basic knowledge of GST-related accounting.
Responsibilities may include
- Recording GST correctly in purchase and sales invoices.
- Checking CGST, SGST and IGST.
- Maintaining GST-related records.
- Providing required data to the senior accountant or CA.
- Assisting with GST reconciliation and return preparation.
Note: The candidate does not necessarily need to independently file GST returns unless specifically required by the company.
1. Invoicing
The accountant will prepare invoices for customers and ensure that invoices contain correct:
- Customer details
- GSTIN
- Invoice number
- Date
- Product/service details
- Tax percentage
- Tax amount
- Total amount
They will also maintain copies of invoices for accounting and audit purposes.
1. Expense Recording
The accountant will record company expenses such as:
- Office expenses
- Rent
- Electricity
- Telephone/internet
- Travel expenses
- Stationery
- Repairs and maintenance
- Other business expenses
They should verify bills and supporting documents before recording expenses.
1. Assist With Financial Reports
The accountant may help prepare basic reports such as:
- Sales report
- Purchase report
- Expense report
- Outstanding receivables
- Outstanding payables
- Cash report
- Bank report
- Profit & Loss information
These reports help management understand the company's financial position.
1. Maintain Proper Documentation
The accountant must keep accounting documents organized and easily accessible.
This may include
- Purchase bills
- Sales invoices
- Payment vouchers
- Receipt vouchers
- Bank statements
- Expense bills
- GST documents
- Other financial records
Proper documentation is key for audits, tax compliance, and internal checking. Pay: ₹10,000.00 - ₹15,000.00 per month
