We are looking for a skilled Fiber Splicer / Fiber Optic Technician to install, splice, test, troubleshoot, and maintain fiber-optic networks. The candidate will be responsible for fiber laying, jointing, OTDR testing, fault identification, restoration, and maintenance of ISP fiber infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform fiber-optic cable splicing using fusion splicing machines.
- Prepare fiber cables, tubes, and fibers for splicing and termination.
- Install and maintain ODF, FDB, FAT, FDT, joint closures, patch panels, and fiber termination boxes.
- Perform fiber route installation, maintenance, and restoration activities.
- Conduct OTDR testing and analyze test results to identify fiber faults, losses, and breaks.
- Perform power meter and light-source testing to measure optical signal levels.
- Identify and rectify fiber faults such as high attenuation, bending loss, connector issues, and fiber breaks.
- Carry out FTTH/FTTx fiber installation and troubleshooting.
- Perform fiber blowing, pulling, routing, and dressing as required.
- Maintain proper fiber splicing records, OTDR reports, route details, and joint documentation.
- Ensure proper labeling and identification of fibers, cables, ports, and joints.
- Coordinate with the NOC and field/network teams for fault restoration.
- Respond to fiber cuts and network outages and restore services within the required SLA.
- Perform preventive maintenance of fiber routes and network equipment.
- Follow safety procedures while working on poles, ducts, manholes, rooftops, and other field locations.
- Maintain and properly handle fusion splicer, OTDR,
power meter, cleaver, VFL, and other fiber tools.
- Prepare daily work reports and update network/fiber documentation.
Required Technical Skills
- Good knowledge of fiber-optic communication and ISP networks.
- Hands-on experience with fusion splicing.
- Knowledge of single-mode fiber (SMF) and fiber cable construction.
- Experience with OTDR, optical power meter, VFL, and fiber cleaver.
- Knowledge of FTTH/GPON/FTTx networks.
- Understanding of ODF, FDB, FAT, FDT, splitter, joint closure, and patch panel.
- Ability to interpret OTDR traces and identify fault locations.
- Basic understanding of optical power, insertion loss, return loss, and attenuation.
- Knowledge of fiber routing, cable jointing, termination, and testing.
- Basic knowledge of ISP network architecture and NOC coordination.
Educational Qualification
- ITI / Diploma in Electronics, Electrical, Telecommunications, Networking, or a related field preferred.
- Relevant technical certification or fiber-optic training will be an advantage.
Experience
- 1–3 years of experience in fiber splicing, FTTH, ISP, telecom, or fiber-optic network maintenance.
- Fresh candidates with relevant fiber-optic training may also be considered for junior positions.

Work LocationField-based position. Candidate may be required to travel to different network locations for installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and fiber restoration. Preferred Candidate
- A candidate with practical hands-on experience in ISP/FTTH fiber splicing, OTDR testing, fiber fault troubleshooting, and emergency fiber restoration will be preferred.
