Role & responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and monitor EHS policies, procedures, and management systems across the manufacturing facility.
- Ensure compliance with all applicable EHS regulations, including the Factories Act, Gujarat Factory Rules, Pollution Control Board requirements, and other statutory obligations.
- Conduct regular safety inspections, EHS audits, risk assessments, and hazard identification studies, ensuring timely closure of observations.
- Lead incident, accident, near-miss, and unsafe-condition investigations through root cause analysis and implementation of corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).
- Organize EHS training programs, induction sessions, toolbox talks, safety campaigns, and awareness initiatives for employees and contractors.
- Monitor and enforce the use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and adherence to safety procedures across all departments.
- Ensure compliance with environmental regulations related to waste management, air emissions, water consumption, effluent disposal, and hazardous waste handling.
- Maintain EHS records, statutory registers, reports, permits, licenses, and documentation as per legal requirements.
- Coordinate with government authorities, auditors, insurance agencies, and external consultants for inspections, audits, and certifications.
- Coordinate and support ISO audits, including ISO 45001 (Occupational Health & Safety) and ISO 14001 (Environmental Management System), and ensure effective implementation and maintenance of applicable ISO requirements.
- Prepare required documents, records, evidence, risk assessments, environmental aspects-impact registers, legal compliance records,
and corrective action plans for ISO audits.
- Facilitate internal and external ISO audits, track audit findings/non-conformities, coordinate root cause analysis and CAPA, and ensure timely closure of audit observations.
- Drive implementation of EHS objectives, KPIs, safety observations, behavioral safety programs, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Support emergency preparedness and response activities, including mock drills, fire safety management, first-aid systems, and disaster management plans.
- Monitor contractor safety performance and ensure compliance with permit-to-work systems, lockout-tagout (LOTO), work-at-height, hot work, and confined-space procedures.
- Facilitate sustainability and environmental initiatives such as energy conservation, resource optimization, waste reduction, and green manufacturing practices.
- Participate in management reviews and provide periodic EHS and ISO performance reports to plant leadership.
- Ensure continuous improvement of the EHS Management System through PDCA, risk-based thinking, audit findings, incident trends, and management review actions.
Preferred candidate profile
- Bachelors degree/Diploma in Industrial Safety, Environmental Science, Fire & Safety, or a related discipline.
- 5–7 years of relevant experience in EHS/Safety, preferably in manufacturing, solar, electrical, engineering, or renewable energy industries.
- Must have solid knowledge of Factories Act, Gujarat Factory Rules, Environmental regulations, and statutory EHS compliance.
- Experience in ISO 45001 & ISO 14001 implementation, internal/external audits, documentation, and CAPA closure.
