Position Title: Lead EHS

Industry: Industrial Construction Contracting

Location: Pune, Head Office

Reporting To: Project Director / VP Operations / Managing Director

Experience Required: 15+ years in construction safety, with 5+ years in a leadership role

Job Purpose:

To lead and manage the Health, Safety & Environment (HSE) function across all construction project sites. Ensure full compliance with statutory safety regulations, implementation of best practices, and continuous improvement of safety culture across the organization. Interface with MNC clients (Japanese, Korean, British clients) .

Key Responsibilities:

Strategic & Leadership:

- Develop and implement HSE policies, systems, and procedures in alignment with corporate goals and regulatory requirements.
- Lead the HSE team across multiple projects/sites; mentor and guide Safety Managers and Officers.
- Liaise with top management, clients, statutory authorities, and third-party auditors regarding HSE performance and compliance.

Operational & Site-Level Responsibilities:

- Conduct regular site inspections, safety audits, and risk assessments; ensure timely corrective actions.
- Oversee implementation of Permit-to-Work systems, emergency response plans, and fire safety systems.
- Ensure hazard identification and job safety analysis (JSA) are conducted for all high-risk activities (e.g., excavation, lifting, hot work, work at height).
- Drive HSE programs such as Toolbox Talks, safety induction, mock drills,



and training sessions for staff and labor.
- Ensure PPE compliance and site housekeeping standards are maintained at all times.
- Incident/accident investigation and root cause analysis; drive preventive measures.

Regulatory & Documentation:

- Ensure adherence to statutory laws such as Factories Act, BOCW Act, Environmental Acts, etc.
- Maintain HSE reports, safety statistics, incident logs, and documentation for audits.
- Coordinate with external bodies like DGMS, DISH, Setting Control Boards, etc.

Sustainability & Environment:

- Monitor environmental aspects such as waste management, noise, dust, water usage, and emissions.
- Implement sustainability initiatives in line with project/client objectives.

Key Skills & Competencies:

- In-depth knowledge of construction safety practices, hazard control techniques, and regulatory compliance
- Leadership and people management skills
- Excellent communication, reporting, and coordination abilities
- Problem-solving and crisis-handling mindset
- Familiar with ISO 45001, ISO 14001, and other relevant standards

Educational Qualifications:

- Bachelors Degree in Engineering Civil/ Diploma Civil
- Advanced Diploma in Industrial Safety (recognized by AICTE / State Technical Board) Mandatory
- Additional certifications: NEBOSH / IOSH / OSHA preferred
