About the Role We are looking for an analytically sharp, detail-driven Electrical Engineer with 3-5 years of experience in the power sector to join VPAPL's Engineering team. You will be responsible for the full technical lifecycle of engineering activities from evaluating tenders and reviewing vendor submissions, to coordinating drawing approvals, conducting power quality measurements at site, and leading failure mode and root cause analyses. This role demands equal parts technical rigour and structured analytical thinking.

Key Responsibilities

1. Review and evaluate technical bid documents, Request for Proposals (RFPs), and vendor quotations for electrical equipment and systems.
2. Draft and review technical specifications for HT/LT equipment, cables, switchgear, transformers, metering systems, and streetlight infrastructure.
3. Prepare comparative technical evaluation reports for procurement decisions assessing vendor technical compliance, deviation analysis, and recommendation.
4. Review Bill of Quantities (BOQ) and scope of work documents for technical accuracy and completeness.
5. Coordinate with the client procurement team to align technical requirements with commercial bid evaluation criteria.
6. Manage post-order technical coordination with vendors.
7.

Review and approve vendor-submitted engineering drawings, single-line diagrams (SLDs), general arrangement (GA) drawings, and technical submittals for compliance with AEML specifications and applicable standards.
8. Maintain a drawing register and approval status tracker.
9. Liaise directly with vendor engineering teams to resolve technical queries, design deviations, and specification non-conformances.
10. Coordinate to-and-fro correspondence with vendors for technical clarifications, shop drawings, test reports, and as-built documentation.
11. Prepare technical draft reports, inspection reports, and submission packages for regulatory approval.
12. Compile all technical documentation required for Client's statutory compliance filings.
13. Track approval status across all active submissions, maintain approval registers, and escalate delays proactively.
14. Ensure all technical submissions are prepared to the prescribed format and standards of the relevant regulatory authority.
15. Support the preparation of Detailed Project Reports (DPRs) and technical feasibility submissions for new network projects.
16.

Deploy to consumer premises and network locations to conduct on-site power quality (PQ) measurements using calibrated instruments.
17. Technical investigation of cable failures, transformer faults, switchgear malfunctions, and other electrical asset failures within client's distribution network.
18. Determine root cause across three primary failure categories: manufacturing defect, installation/workmanship error, and operational overloading or misuse.
19. Conduct pre-delivery vendor site inspections and quality verification visits.
20. Witness and evaluate Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT).
21. Provide in office technical inputs to the client project team during construction, modification, and asset replacement activities.
