Full Time, In-Office Role
Basvangudi, Bangalore
Experience: 8-12 years
Company: A Leading Integrated Digital Media Agency
We're an integrated digital-first media and marketing company, specialising in organic media, meme marketing, influencer partnerships, and content-led brand solutions, working at the intersection of culture, creators, and communities to help brands build cultural relevance and social-first growth.
This particular role is to lead all things video editing for Scoopwhoop.
Role Overview
This role sits within our entertainment and video content vertical, one of the most-watched youth entertainment brands in the country. The team behind it puts out everything from fast, punchy comedy and street-format videos to longer interview and documentary-style series, across YouTube, Instagram, and Facebook, in both English and Hindi.
We're looking for an Editor in Chief to lead the video team and own the full range of that output. You'll set the editorial and creative bar, run a busy production calendar across multiple formats at once, and build the team that can keep up with it.
Why This Role Matters
This brand's video output is one of the most visible things we make, watched by millions every month. The Editor in Chief decides what that looks like: what gets greenlit, what gets cut, and how consistently the team can deliver it.
Key Responsibilities
Set the Editorial and Creative Vision
- Define the tone, quality bar, and creative direction across every video format we run
- Decide what gets made, what gets killed, and why
- Keep a sharp eye on culture and trends, and turn that into ideas fast enough to matter
Lead the Video Team
- Manage editors, writers, and production staff across multiple shows and formats
- Hire, mentor, and build out the team as the slate grows
- Review cuts and scripts, and give feedback that actually raises the bar
Run Production Like Clockwork
- Own the production calendar across rapid-turnaround social content and longer-form series at the same time
- Manage budgets, timelines, and vendors or freelance crews
- Keep quality consistent even when the volume is high and the turnaround is short
Drive Performance Across Platforms
- Track how content performs across YouTube, Instagram, and Facebook, and act on what you see
- Work with the social and growth teams to make sure formats are built for how each platform actually works
- Balance the trend-jacking, fast-turnaround content with the flagship shows that build the brand long-term
What We're Looking For
- 8-12 years in video content or editorial leadership, agency or digital media experience required
- A track record of managing a video team and multiple productions at once
- Range across fast, high-volume social video and longer-form interview or documentary-style content
- A sharp sense of comedy, pop culture, and what actually gets shared
- Comfortable working across English and Hindi content
- Experience managing production budgets, timelines, and external crews or freelancers
Bonus Points If You Have
- Background in Indian youth entertainment or digital-first media specifically
- Grown from editor or director into a leadership role, so you can still get hands-on when it counts
Soft Skills
- Decisive, especially when the clock is running
- Hands-on leader, not just a signer-off
- Genuinely funny, or at least knows funny when they see it
- Calm when the production calendar gets stacked
- Builds a team people actually want to work on
Experience & Background 8-12 years in video editorial or production leadership, ideally agency-side or at a digital media company, with a solid track record managing people and multiple concurrent productions.
Note This role may occasionally need evening or weekend flexibility around shoots, live events, or fast-turnaround trend content.
