Deccan Law House is a 30 year-old business specialising in Law & Tax books, serving students, lawyers, judges, government departments, professionals, colleges and institutions across India.
Our business operates across e-commerce, offline retail, institutional sales and publishing, and we are also expanding into technology with a new software business.
We are looking for a responsible, organised and customer-focused E-Commerce Executive to manage the day-to-day operations of our online business.
Role Overview
The candidate will be primarily responsible for three core areas:
- Catalog Management
- Order Management
- Customer Support The ideal candidate should be highly organised, detail-oriented and comfortable working independently. Since this role involves direct communication with customers, excellent spoken and written English is mandatory.

Key Responsibilities
- Catalog Management
- Add new books/products to the e-commerce website.
- Maintain accurate product titles, descriptions, authors, publishers, editions and other product information.
- Upload and manage product images.
- Update product prices and availability.
- Create and maintain product categories and sub-categories.
- Add relevant search tags, attributes and filters.
- Regularly check the website catalog for incorrect, incomplete or outdated information.
- Update product information whenever new editions or revised prices are received.
- Coordinate with the publishing, procurement and store teams to collect product information.
- Ensure newly available books are added to the website promptly.
- Maintain overall catalog accuracy and consistency.
- Order Management
- Monitor incoming orders on a daily basis.
- Process orders from receipt through successful dispatch.
- Coordinate with the store/warehouse team for picking and packing.
- Generate invoices and shipping documentation.
- Coordinate with courier partners for pickups and dispatches.
- Track shipments and proactively identify delayed or failed deliveries.
- Handle cancelled, returned and undelivered orders.
- Coordinate replacements and refunds wherever required.
- Maintain accurate records of order status.
- Follow up on all pending orders until closure.
- Ensure orders are processed and dispatched within the required turnaround time.
- Customer Support
- Handle customer queries through phone, WhatsApp and email.
- Communicate professionally with customers regarding:
- Product availability
- Product information
- Pricing
- Order status
- Delivery status
- Returns
- Replacements
- Refunds
- Resolve customer complaints professionally and promptly.
- Coordinate internally to resolve customer and order-related issues.
- Follow up with customers wherever necessary.
- Ensure customers receive timely and accurate information.
- Maintain a high standard of customer service throughout the buying journey.
- Reporting & Coordination
- Maintain daily records of orders, dispatches, returns and customer complaints.
- Prepare basic operational reports using MS Excel / Google Sheets.
- Coordinate with store, warehouse, publishing, procurement and management teams.
- Monitor pending tasks and ensure timely follow-up.
- Identify recurring operational issues and report them to management.
- Suggest improvements to make e-commerce operations more efficient.

Candidate Requirements
Essential
- 1–3 years of experience in e-commerce, catalog management, order processing or customer support.
- Excellent spoken and written English is mandatory.
- Must be comfortable speaking with customers over the phone.
- Must be able to communicate professionally with customers through WhatsApp and email.
- Good working knowledge of MS Excel / Google Sheets.
- Good computer and internet skills.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Good organisational and follow-up skills.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Ability to work independently and take ownership of responsibilities.
- Skilled and customer-friendly attitude.
Preferred
Experience with
- E-commerce platforms such as Dukaan, Shopify, WooCommerce, etc.
- Amazon, Flipkart or other marketplaces.
- Courier/shipping platforms.
- Product catalog management.
- Inventory or order management systems.
- CRM or customer support tools.
Knowledge of Hindi and/or Telugu will be an added advantage.
