Position Title
Director – School of Business and Commerce
Reporting To
Dean – School of Management
Role Purpose The Director – School of Business and Commerce shall provide academic, administrative, and operational leadership for the School. The role is responsible for driving excellence in teaching, student outcomes, faculty performance, industry engagement, research contribution, accreditation readiness, and institutional growth. The Director shall work closely with the Dean to execute the School's strategic vision while ensuring high academic standards and industry relevance across all programs.
Key Responsibilities
- Academic Leadership & Program Management
- Lead the academic administration and day-to-day functioning of the School.
- Ensure effective delivery of undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctoral programs.
- Monitor curriculum implementation, academic quality, examinations, and learning outcomes.
- Drive continuous improvement in teaching-learning processes and academic excellence.
2. Faculty Leadership & Development
- Lead, mentor, and develop faculty members within the School.
- Promote a culture of academic rigor, innovation, collaboration, and accountability.
- Support faculty recruitment, induction, performance management, and capability development.
- Encourage research, consulting, industry engagement, and scholarly contributions.
3. Student Success & Academic Experience
- Monitor student progression, retention, academic performance, and overall student experience.
- Strengthen mentoring systems, experiential learning, and student engagement initiatives.
- Promote participation in business competitions, case study contests, certifications, and industry projects.
- Drive initiatives aimed at enhancing student employability and career outcomes.
4. Industry Engagement & Corporate Relations
- Build strong relationships with corporates, industry leaders, professional bodies, startups, and alumni.
- Facilitate internships, live projects,
consulting assignments, guest lectures, and executive interactions.
- Ensure academic programs remain aligned with evolving business and industry requirements.
- Support placement and corporate engagement initiatives.
5. Research, Consulting & Innovation
- Promote research excellence among faculty and students.
- Encourage publications in reputed journals, case writing, consultancy assignments, and funded projects.
- Foster interdisciplinary collaboration and industry-relevant research.
- Work closely with the Dean and Research Office to strengthen research output and impact.
6. Accreditation, Rankings & Quality Assurance
- Support accreditation and ranking initiatives including NAAC, NIRF, AACSB, and other quality frameworks.
- Ensure compliance with UGC, AICTE, and University quality standards.
- Drive academic audits, assurance of learning processes, and quality enhancement initiatives.
7. Admissions & School Growth
- Support student recruitment, admissions planning, and outreach activities.
- Contribute to the development of new programs, specializations, executive education offerings, and certifications.
- Participate in branding and reputation-building initiatives for the School.
8. Operational & Resource Management
- Ensure effective utilization of faculty, infrastructure, laboratories, learning resources, and budgets.
- Monitor operational efficiency and support administrative effectiveness across the School.
- Ensure timely reporting, documentation, and regulatory compliance.
9. Stakeholder Management
- Collaborate with the Dean, University leadership, faculty members, students, alumni, recruiters,
and industry partners.
- Build solid relationships with academic institutions, professional bodies, and external stakeholders.
- Represent the School in academic, industry, and professional forums.
10. Strategic Execution
- Support the Dean in implementing the School's strategic objectives and growth plans.
- Monitor key academic and operational performance indicators.
- Identify opportunities for innovation, partnerships, and institutional development.
Qualification & Experience
- Ph.D. in Management, Commerce, Economics, Business Analytics, Finance, Human Resource Management, Marketing, Operations Management, or a related discipline from a recognized University.
- Minimum 12–15 years of experience in teaching, research, and academic administration within a reputed higher education institution.
- Demonstrated experience in managing academic programs, faculty teams, accreditation initiatives, and industry engagement.
- Strong record of research publications, academic contributions, consulting assignments, or industry collaborations.
- Preferred Profile
- Alumni of premier institutions such as IIMs, XLRI, FMS, MDI, SPJIMR, TISS, ISB, IITs, or other nationally/internationally reputed institutions will be preferred.
- Candidates with exposure to AACSB, EQUIS, NBA, NAAC, or international accreditation frameworks will be preferred.
- Experience in leading Business Schools, MBA programs, executive education, or industry-academia initiatives will be an added advantage.
- Strong corporate network and proven industry engagement experience preferred.
