Position: Design Engineer (Drone & CFD Specialist)

About Role:
We are seeking a talented and motivated Design Engineer to join our core engineering team. In this role, you will be responsible for the end-to-end mechanical design, structural development, and aerodynamic optimization of next- generation drone and UAV systems. A primary focus of this position will be leveraging ANSYS and other advanced CFD tools to validate aerodynamic performance, ensure structural integrity, and drive innovation in lightweight flight components.
Mandatory Criteria: This role specifically requires domain expertise in Fixed-Wing and VTOL aerodynamic design. Profiles with experience limited solely to multi-rotor / quadcopter systems will not be considered.
Key Responsibilities:
- Aerodynamic & Thermal Analysis: Lead and execute Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) simulations using ANSYS (Fluent/CFX) or other relevant tools to optimize lift, minimize drag, and analyze thermal performance of drone components.
- Component Design: Design and develop drone components, airframes, internal structures, and complex sub- assemblies using Autodesk Fusion360/SolidWorks or similar tools..
- Manufacturing Documentation: Create detailed, production-ready 2D technical drawings and complex 3D models for precise manufacturing and assembly.
- Advanced Materials Optimization: Evaluate and work with advanced materials, including carbon fiber composites, high-strength polymers, and lightweight alloys, to balance structural strength and weight.
- Production Coordination:
Assist and coordinate closely with production and fabrication teams to facilitate CNC machining, 3D printing, and composite molding processes.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with hardware, electronics, and flight control teams to ensure design feasibility, seamless system integration, and optimal weight distribution.
- Standards & Compliance: Ensure all designs comply with relevant engineering standards, regulatory guidelines, and strict safety norms.
Educational Qualifications:
- Bachelor's/ Master's in Aerospace Engineering, Aeronautical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering (Design), or Mechanical Design Engineering.
Required Skills:
- CFD Proficiency: Proven basic-to-advanced capability in setting up, running, and interpreting CFD simulations using ANSYS or similar industry-standard simulation software.
- CAD Mastery: High proficiency in 3D modeling and 2D drafting using SolidWorks and AutoCAD.
- Core Fundamentals: Solid understanding of fluid mechanics, aerodynamics, mechanical design principles,
and UAV/drone structures.
Preferred Skills (Good to Have):
- Hands-on Fabrication: Direct exposure to or understanding of CNC machines, prototyping tools, and subtractive/additive manufacturing processes.
- Drone Projects: Prior qualified experience or significant academic/extracurricular projects related to drone, UAV, or RC aircraft design.
- Advanced Simulation: Experience with structural analysis (FEA) or multi-physics simulations in ANSYS is a major plus.
