ABOUT THE ROLE

We call it Solution Engineering — pairing a well-made commutator with application engineering built around the customer's actual end use. This Design Engineer / Application Engineer / NPD Engineer role owns that second half, across our commutator and slip ring range and into PMDC, BLDC, universal motor and appliance applications.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

- Take a customer drawing, sample or motor specification and assess manufacturability
- Prepare and manage all technical drawings
- Run programs through feasibility, design freeze, prototype, trial and PPAP submission
- Prepare APQP deliverables — design FMEA, control plan inputs, drawing packs — for Quality review and approval
- Produce and review GD&T-correct; 2D production drawings and 3D models
- Maintain revision discipline,



obsolescence control and a clean drawing-to-part-number map
- Handle direct technical discussion with OEM engineering teams on application requirements
- Raise and negotiate deviation requests and tolerance changes with supporting data
- Work with process and tool engineering so designs are mouldable, curable, turnable and slot-cuttable at volume

WHAT YOU'LL BRING

- BE / B.Tech in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering, or Diploma with strong hands-on NPD experience
- 3–4 years in new product development or design engineering for motors, precision machined components, or moulded electro-mechanical parts
- Fluency in GD&T; — not familiarity, fluency
- Fluency in SolidWorks or Creo, plus AutoCAD
- Has personally taken at least two parts from customer drawing through to PPAP approval
- Comfortable in direct technical conversation with a customer's engineering team

NICE TO HAVE

- Exposure to compression or transfer moulded thermoset components
- Tool and die awareness — able to anticipate what a design will cost in tooling
- Experience with PMDC, BLDC or universal motor applications
- Working knowledge of copper and silver as engineering materials
