Role Overview:

The Engineer, Design is responsible for creating and developing mechanical designs for machine tools, from concept to detailed drawings. This role involves collaborating with teams across Purchase, Planning, Quality, and Marketing to ensure designs meet both technical and customer requirements. The engineer will provide support to assembly teams, assist with customer clarifications, and oversee project documentation.

Proficiency in SolidWorks and a background in machine design are essential. The ideal candidate should be detail-oriented, creative, and able to handle multiple projects efficiently.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Develop design concepts and models based on requirements.
2. Create and optimize machine models and mechanical components, including selection of bought-out items and performing related calculations.
3. Prepare and maintain accurate Bills of Materials (BOM) for projects.
4. Provide detailed assembly drawings and support the assembly team with any technical queries.
5. Collaborate with cross-functional teams (Purchase, Planning, Vendor, Quality, Marketing, and Application) to clarify design requirements.
6. Document machine specifications and develop comprehensive mechanical manuals.

Assist in creating proposals and cutting-edge concepts for new inquiries and customer requirements.
8. Update and revise design drawings based on change requests and feedback.
9. Conduct part inspections and quality checks as needed.
10. Travel to customer sites to gather insights, discuss concepts, and provide design clarifications.
11. Supervise and provide guidance to the deputation team as required.
12. Offer technical support and clarification to fellow design engineers.

13. Assist the planning department with spare part specifications and requirements.

Preferred candidate profile

Educational Background: Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field, with a background in Machine Tools Design (Grinding Machines) preferred.

Technical Skills

- Proficiency in SolidWorks with strong 3D modelling and 2D drafting skills (essential).
- Basic knowledge of AutoCAD or other 2D CAD software.
- Knowledge of simulation tools (advantageous).
- Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) for documentation and presentations.

Other Skills:

- Effective team handling experience (advantageous).
- Strong communication skills for effective collaboration with cross-functional teams.
