Position Title /n Dean – Department of Student Welfare (DSW) /n Reporting To /n Pro Vice Chancellor /n Role Purpose /n The Dean – Department of Student Welfare (DSW) shall provide strategic leadership and oversight for all student welfare, discipline, engagement, support services, and co-curricular development initiatives of the University. The role is responsible for creating a safe, inclusive, disciplined, and student-centric campus workplace that promotes holistic student development, leadership, well-being, participation, and responsible citizenship. /n Key Responsibilities /n 1.
Student
Welfare & Support /n /n
- Develop and implement comprehensive student welfare policies, programs, and support systems.
/n
- Ensure effective mechanisms for student care, mentoring, counselling referrals, and welfare interventions.
/n
- Monitor student well-being and recommend initiatives to enhance the overall student experience.
/n /n 2.
Student
Discipline & Campus Conduct /n /n
- Oversee student discipline and ensure adherence to University rules, regulations, and code of conduct.
/n
- Chair or coordinate disciplinary processes and recommend corrective actions where required.
/n
- Promote a culture of ethical conduct, accountability, and responsible citizenship.
/n /n 3.
Student
Engagement & Campus Life /n /n
- Lead the planning and execution of student engagement programs, cultural activities, leadership initiatives, festivals, competitions, and awareness campaigns.
/n
- Encourage active participation of students in co-curricular and extracurricular activities.
/n
- Develop platforms for student leadership and representation.
/n /n 4.
Grievance
Redressal & Student Relations /n /n
- Establish and monitor effective grievance redressal mechanisms for students.
/n
- Ensure timely resolution of student concerns through coordination with academic and administrative departments.
/n
- Act as the principal interface between students and University administration on welfare-related matters.
/n /n 5. Inclusivity, Safety & Well-being /n /n
- Promote an inclusive and respectful campus culture.
/n
- Work closely with committees such as the Internal Complaints Committee (ICC), Anti-Ragging Committee, Grievance Cell, and other statutory bodies.
/n
- Drive initiatives related to mental health awareness, emotional well-being, gender sensitization, and student safety.
/n /n 6.
Community
Outreach & Social Responsibility /n /n
- Encourage student participation in social impact initiatives, community engagement programs, and outreach activities.
/n
- Foster values of service, leadership, sustainability, and civic responsibility.
/n /n 7. Policy, Governance & Compliance /n /n
- Formulate and review policies related to student welfare, discipline, engagement, and support services.
/n
- Ensure compliance with UGC, AICTE, statutory requirements, and University regulations pertaining to student welfare.
/n
- Present reports, analytics, and recommendations to University leadership.
/n /n 8.
Stakeholder
Management /n /n
- Collaborate with Deans, Directors, Heads of Departments, faculty members, student bodies, and administrative offices.
/n
- Build strong communication channels between students and University leadership.
/n
- Represent student welfare matters in University committees and forums.
/n /n Qualification & Experience /n /n
- Ph.D. from a recognized University.
/n
- Minimum 15–20 years of experience in higher education, student affairs, academic administration, or related leadership roles.
/n
- Demonstrated experience in student engagement, discipline management, welfare administration, and stakeholder management
/n /n Location: Chandigarh University, Unnao, Uttar Pradesh
