Purpose of the Role:
The Debt Dealer will be responsible for the execution of fixed income transactions, ensuring efficient trade execution, optimal price discovery, and timely settlement of trades. The role requires active engagement with debt market participants, monitoring market developments, supporting portfolio management decisions, and providing analytical insights to enhance investment performance. The incumbent will work closely with Fund Managers, Research, Operations, Risk, and Compliance teams to support the overall fixed income investment strategy.
Key Responsibilities:
Trade Execution & Liquidity Management
- Execute trades across debt and money market instruments to achieve optimal pricing and yield outcomes.
- Deploy surplus funds efficiently while maintaining adequate liquidity and adhering to regulatory and internal limits.
- Monitor cash positions, portfolio exposures, and market opportunities on an ongoing basis.
- Support the implementation of portfolio strategies through efficient trade execution.
Market Intelligence & Research
- Build and maintain relationships with brokers, banks, mutual funds, insurance companies, and other market participants.
- Gather and disseminate market intelligence on interest rates, liquidity conditions, credit spreads, and trading opportunities.
- Track macroeconomic developments, monetary policy actions, and their impact on fixed income markets.
- Conduct market, valuation, and relative value analyses to identify investment opportunities.
Investment & Portfolio Support
- Assist Fund Managers in investment decision-making through timely market updates, research, and trade recommendations.
- Identify and evaluate mispricing and relative value opportunities across fixed income securities.
- Monitor and evaluate the performance of recommended trade ideas and investment strategies.
- Prepare market commentaries, investment notes, and analytical reports.
Credit Monitoring
- Support the credit review process by monitoring issuer fundamentals, ratings, outlook changes, and credit events.
- Assess potential risks and opportunities arising from changes in credit quality.
- Provide timely updates on developments affecting portfolio holdings.
Trade Settlement & Operational Coordination
- Coordinate with Operations, Risk, Compliance, Treasury, and Custodian teams to ensure seamless trade processing and settlement.
- Resolve settlement and operational issues promptly.
- Ensure compliance with internal policies, regulatory requirements, and operational controls.
Reporting & Documentation
- Prepare periodic investment reports, trade summaries, market updates, and management presentations.
- Support internal and regulatory reporting requirements as required by the Investment Team.

Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelors degree in finance, Economics, Commerce, Management, or a related discipline.
- MBA (Finance), CFA, FRM, CA, or equivalent professional qualification preferred.
- Relevant experience in debt dealing, fixed income trading, treasury, or investment management.
- Demonstrated exposure to debt market instruments and institutional market participants.
Knowledge & Skills:
Technical Expertise
- Strong understanding of fixed income and debt markets.
- Knowledge of Government Securities (G-Secs), State Development Loans (SDLs), Corporate Bonds, Treasury Bills, Commercial Papers, Certificates of Deposit, and other money market instruments.
- Sound understanding of interest rate dynamics, yield curves, credit spreads, duration, and risk management.
- Familiarity with applicable regulatory and investment guidelines.
