CCDC also holds recognition as a WHO Collaborating Centre for Surveillance, Capacity Building and Translational Research in Cardio-metabolic diseases and is anICMR Collaborating Centre of Excellence.

Project Brief: Multiple long-term conditions (MLTCs), defined as the coexistence of two or more chronic conditions, is anincreasing public health concern in India. Physical activity can support the management of cardiometabolic MLTCs, but remains insufficiently integrated into routine primary healthcare. The project, “Co-designing and Evaluating a Physical Activity Intervention for People Living with Cardiometabolic Multiple Long-Term Conditions in Primary Healthcare Settings,” aimsto develop, refine and evaluate a feasible physical activity intervention that can be integrated within primary healthcare services.

The intervention is being developed using a co-design approach involving patients, healthcare providers and relevant experts, and will subsequently be implemented and evaluated in primary healthcare settings in Bhubaneswar, Odisha.The project is funded by the National Institute for Health and Care Research (NIHR) Global Health Research Centre (GHRC) for Multiple Long-term Conditions (MLTCs). The study is set within the public health system at Bhubaneswar, Odisha, India.

Role Overview: The Consultant will provide field-level support for the implementation and evaluation of the physical activityintervention among adults living with cardiometabolic multiple long-term conditions in primary healthcare settings. The role will involve participant identification and recruitment, baseline and follow-up data collection, participant engagement and retention,coordination of intervention activities, monitoring of physical activity sessions and adherence, and maintenance of accurate study documentation.

This is a field-based, in-person role located at the study site in Bhubaneswar, Odisha. The Consultant will be required to work inpublic health facilities in a sensitive and professional manner, interacting with both patients and clinical staff.

Key Roles And Responsibilities

- Participant Identification, Eligibility Screening and Recruitment




- Assist the study team in identifying and screening participants according to the study’s predefined inclusion and exclusion criteria.
- Explain the study to potential participants in a clear and culturally appropriate manner and obtain informed consent.

- Baseline and Follow-up Data Collection

- Assist in conducting baseline and follow-up assessments, including administration of study questionnaires and physical/functional assessments, as per the study protocol.
- Support collection and management of physical activity data, including accelerometer-based measurements where applicable.
- Conduct participant follow-up and ensure completeness and quality of collected data.

- Physical Activity Intervention Support

- Assist in the delivery and coordination of the physical activity intervention in participating primary healthcare facilities,following the approved intervention protocol and
- Support participant engagement, adherence and home-based physical activity activities, including regular follow-up.
- Maintain records of intervention attendance and participation and report implementation challenges to the PI.

- Participant Safety and Monitoring

- Monitor participants during assessments and intervention sessions and identify any discomfort, adverse events or safety concerns.
- Promptly report adverse events, safety concerns or other unexpected events to the PI and follow approved safety procedures.
- Maintain appropriate documentation of safety-related events and ensure participant dignity and confidentiality.

- Field Coordination and Logistics

- Coordinate with participating healthcare facilities, healthcare providers and participants to facilitate recruitment, assessments, intervention sessions and follow-up.
- Maintain regular communication with the PI regarding field activities, participant follow-up and operational

- Data Management and Quality Assurance

- Enter, maintain and manage study data using approved data collection systems such as ODK/REDCap, as applicable
- Ensure secure handling, storage and confidentiality of participant and study data in accordance with the study protocol.

Essential Responsibilities and Requirements

- A bachelor’s degree in public health, social sciences, physiotherapy, allied health sciences, or a closely related field.




- Proficiency in Odia (speaking and writing); ability to communicate effectively with patients and healthcare providers in the local context.
- Demonstrated ability or experience in working in healthcare or community settings with diverse populations.
- Solid interpersonal and communication skills; ability to build trust with both clinical staff and research participants.
- Good organisational skills with attention to detail; ability to maintain accurate records and
- Ability to work independently in a field environment while maintaining regular communication with the

Desirable

- Prior experience as a research assistant or field investigator, or similar role in health
- Familiarity with administration of community or facility-based
- Experience in working in public health facilities in Odisha.
- Knowledge of physical activity, exercise, rehabilitation or chronic disease management in the Indian context.

Reporting The Consultant will report directly to the PhD candidate (Principal Investigator) on a regular basis. The reporting structure is as follows:

- Day-to-day: The Consultant will be in direct contact with the PI for operational guidance, scheduling,and field-level decisions.
- Weekly: A brief written or verbal update on recruitment progress, challenges, and upcoming activitieswill be shared with the PI.

The PI will provide orientation, ongoing supervision, and all necessary study materials, tools, and training to the Consultant at the commencement of the engagement. The Consultant is expected to flag any ambiguities or concerns regarding participant eligibility or ethical conduct to the PI without delay.
