Responsibilities
Direct Responsibilities
As a Cloud Architect attached to the production team within APS Technical Office, your primary role will be to:
- Define and guide the adoption of cloud solutions on the Group private cloud platform, ensuring solutions are secure, resilient, observable, supportable, and compliant with Group standards.
- Collaborate closely with application teams to guide cloud design choices, platform usage, integration patterns, connectivity, security, deployment models, resilience, monitoring, and operational readiness.
- Work with Group service providers delivering PaaS and IaaS services to align platform capabilities, constraints, roadmaps, support models, and service consumption patterns with application and production needs.
- Guide infrastructure engineers, cloud engineers, and DevOps teams in preparing infrastructure automation scripts, optimizing deployment artifacts, and improving CI/CD deployment pipelines for reliable and repeatable delivery on the private cloud platform.
- Review and challenge automation approaches, cloud operations procedures, monitoring, alerting, incident response, and production support practices to drive continuous improvement of cloud solutions.
- Participate in the specification, setup approach, execution review, and documentation of Proof of Concepts and demonstrations of cloud solutions, including recommendations for production adoption.
- Act as a bridge between application teams, Group PaaS/IaaS service providers, Technical Architects, ToolChain, infrastructure, cloud engineering, DevOps, and production support teams to ensure smooth cloud adoption and operational handover.
- Review cloud solution designs to confirm alignment with architecture principles, blueprints, security controls, production performance expectations, stability requirements, and operational support standards.
- Define and maintain high-quality technical documentation, including architecture decisions, implementation guidelines, automation standards, operational runbooks, production readiness checklists, and troubleshooting procedures.
- Proactively identify opportunities for standardization, process improvement, deployment optimization, resilience enhancement, and innovation across cloud operations.
Analyze the current technology and production cloud operating environment to detect critical deficiencies, recommend improvements, and guide remediation actions in collaboration with application teams, Group PaaS/IaaS service providers, infrastructure, DevOps, cloud engineering, and production support teams.
Contributing Responsibilities
- Contribute to cloud architecture frameworks, reusable patterns, service consumption models, automation standards, operational guardrails, and production readiness criteria for private cloud PaaS and IaaS services. Promote these frameworks across application, infrastructure, DevOps, production, and Group service provider teams.
- Contribute to impact analysis and studies for business, application, platform, and production needs. Guide exploratory studies, prototypes, and Proof of Concepts carried out with application teams and Group service providers to assess feasibility, operability, security, resilience, and fit with the Group private cloud architecture.
Technical & Behavioral Competencies
- Total 12+ years of overall IT experience, including strong experience in cloud architecture, production operations, application team engagement, private cloud service consumption, PaaS/IaaS integration, automation governance, DevOps practices, architecture review, and application delivery oversight.

Technical Skills
- Strong knowledge of private cloud architecture, PaaS and IaaS service consumption, cloud engineering principles, and production operations, covering compute, storage, networking, identity, databases, messaging, security, monitoring, observability, and platform support models.
- Ability to define, guide, review, and challenge secure, scalable, resilient, and operable cloud solution designs on the Group private cloud platform, including platform service selection, landing zone usage, network connectivity, access controls, high availability, disaster recovery, backup, logging, monitoring, and production support requirements.
- Ability to guide infrastructure engineers, cloud engineers, and Group service providers on infrastructure automation, configuration management, and reusable deployment approaches for PaaS and IaaS services using practices such as Terraform, Ansible, shell scripting, Python, Helm, GitOps, and deployment templates.
- Strong understanding of CI/CD pipeline design and deployment automation, with the ability to review and improve delivery approaches with application teams, DevOps, and platform service providers using tools such as Jenkins, GitLab CI/CD, Argo CD, container registries, artifact repositories, automated quality gates, and controlled release processes.
- Positive understanding of container-based PaaS platforms such as Kubernetes and OpenShift, including workload deployment patterns, scaling, service exposure, secrets management, platform constraints, support boundaries, and troubleshooting practices for application teams.
- Good understanding of application architecture patterns such as microservices, service-oriented architecture, event-driven architecture, APIs, messaging, and integration platforms, with the ability to guide application teams on fit-for-purpose use of private cloud PaaS and IaaS capabilities.
- Experience reviewing identity and access management, single sign-on, secrets management, certificates, and authentication designs using protocols such as OAuth 2.0, OpenID Connect, SAML, JWT, and Keycloak.
- Strong ability to guide production troubleshooting across application workloads, private cloud PaaS/IaaS services, network connectivity, containers, middleware, application runtime, authentication, performance, availability, logging, monitoring, and incident recovery scenarios.
- Ability to prepare, review, and govern architecture documents, solution designs, implementation guidelines, deployment standards, automation usage notes, operational runbooks, production readiness checklists, and troubleshooting guides.
- Ability to assess new or evolving Group private cloud PaaS and IaaS services, guide Proof of Concepts with application teams and service providers, evaluate operational impact, define adoption recommendations, and promote standardization, resilience, security, automation, and continuous improvement across cloud solutions.
