Chief of StaffRole: Chief of Staff – Founder’s Office

Employment Type: Full-Time

Experience: 5–10 Years

Location: Bengaluru / Hybrid

About the RoleWe are looking for a high-agency Chief of Staff to work directly with the Founder and leadership team.

This is not an executive-assistant role and not a conventional project-management position.

The Chief of Staff will operate at the intersection of strategy, execution, people, business priorities and the Founder’s Office — converting leadership priorities into organizational outcomes.

The mandate is simple

Understand what matters → Prioritize it → Assign ownership → Drive execution → Remove bottlenecks → Close the loop.

Key Responsibilities1. Founder’s OfficeWork closely with the Founder on the company's most important priorities.

- Convert discussions and ideas into executable plans.
- Maintain visibility across critical initiatives.
- Prepare briefs before key meetings.
- Capture decisions, owners and deadlines.
- Follow through with teams after leadership discussions.
- Protect the Founder’s time by filtering operational noise.
- Ensure important priorities don't get lost in day-to-day execution.

The Founder should be able to communicate an objective once and trust that it will be systematically driven forward.
- Strategic InitiativesOwn selected high-priority projects that may not naturally sit within one department.

These could include

- New business initiatives
- Market expansion
- Strategic partnerships
- Recent product/service launches
- Organizational improvements
- Special projects
- Business transformation initiatives

Take projects from ambiguity to structure and from structure to execution.

- Business Performance & Management DashboardCreate a single view of business priorities covering:

Priority | Objective | Owner | KPI | Status | Risk | Next Action | Deadline

Track critical metrics across functions and identify areas requiring leadership attention.

The objective is not to create more reports.

The objective is to help leadership make faster and better decisions.

- Cross-Functional ExecutionWork across:

Business | Projects | Operations | Marketing | Finance | People | Partnerships | Leadership

Ensure

- Priorities are understood.
- Ownership is clear.
- Deadlines are realistic.
- Dependencies are identified.
- Teams remain aligned.
- Decisions are implemented.
- Actions are closed.

The Chief of Staff becomes the connective layer between leadership intent and organizational execution.

- Leadership Meetings & Operating RhythmEstablish disciplined leadership operating mechanisms.

- Prepare agendas for leadership reviews.
- Ensure relevant data is available before discussions.
- Document decisions and action items.
- Assign clear ownership.
- Track actions between meetings.

- Challenge recurring delays.
- Ensure previous decisions are not repeatedly reopened without reason.

Meetings should produce decisions and outcomes, not another meeting.

- Decision SupportHelp leadership evaluate important business decisions through structured analysis.

This can include

- Market research
- Competitive intelligence
- Business cases
- Revenue analysis
- Chance assessment
- Scenario planning
- Partnership evaluation
- Cost-benefit analysis

Convert large amounts of information into concise: Context → Options → Risks → Recommendation → Decision Required

- Accountability & Follow-ThroughOne of the most important responsibilities of this position is ensuring commitments actually happen.

The Chief of Staff will:
- Maintain leadership action trackers.
- Follow up with functional owners.
- Identify recurring execution gaps.
- Escalate appropriately.
- Remove cross-functional bottlenecks.
- Ensure critical actions reach closure.

The role requires the confidence to respectfully challenge senior stakeholders when commitments are slipping.
- External & Strategic Stakeholder CoordinationRepresent the Founder’s Office in selected interactions with senior external stakeholders.

- Coordinate strategic conversations.
- Prepare background briefs.
- Track commitments arising from meetings.
- Maintain continuity across important relationships.
- Ensure external discussions translate into internal action.

Professionalism, judgment and discretion are essential.
- Organizational EffectivenessIdentify where the organization is losing time or execution quality because of:

- Unclear ownership
- Poor communication
- Repetitive processes
- Missing information
- Slow approvals
- Weak follow-through
- Unnecessary meetings
- Cross-functional dependencies

Work with leadership to build better operating systems rather than repeatedly solving the same problem. What We Are Looking For
- 5–10 years of experience across strategy, consulting, Founder’s Office, business operations, program management or high-growth organizations.
- Exceptional structured thinking and problem-solving ability.
- Strong business and commercial understanding.
- Excellent written and verbal communication.
- Ability to work directly with founders and senior executives.
- Strong project-management capabilities.
- High comfort with ambiguity.

- Ability to move between strategic discussions and operational details.
- Strong analytical capabilities.
- Excellent judgment and discretion.
- High ownership with minimal supervision.

Experience in consulting, entrepreneurship, startups or founder-led organizations would be valuable. The Person We WantThis role requires someone who can move seamlessly between:

Thinking and doing.

One hour could involve evaluating a new business opportunity.

The next could involve solving an execution bottleneck.

The next could involve preparing the Founder for an important meeting.

And the next could involve ensuring five different teams deliver something by tomorrow.

The person should be comfortable operating without the sentence:

“That's not my responsibility.”

If something is critical to the organization, the Chief of Staff helps ensure that it gets solved.

What This Role Is NOTThis is not primarily:

- Calendar management
- Travel coordination
- Administrative assistance
- Meeting scheduling
- Note-taking
- Following the Founder everywhere

Administrative coordination may occasionally be required, but the core mandate is business leverage and execution. Key Performance IndicatorsSuccess will be measured through:

- Completion of strategic priorities
- Speed from decision to execution
- Leadership action-item closure
- Reduction in unresolved dependencies
- Quality of decision support
- Cross-functional execution effectiveness
- Business initiatives successfully launched
- Leadership bandwidth created
- Quality and accuracy of management information
- Organizational responsiveness

First 90 DaysDays 1–30 — UnderstandUnderstand the business model, leadership priorities, organizational structure, revenue engine, major projects and key stakeholders. Identify where leadership time is currently being consumed unnecessarily.

Days 31–60 — StructureCreate operating dashboards, leadership review mechanisms and action-tracking systems.

Begin taking direct ownership of selected strategic initiatives.

Days 61–90 — LeverageThe Founder should begin experiencing measurable leverage.

Fewer priorities should require repeated follow-ups.

Critical projects should have clearer ownership.

Leadership should have better visibility.

Decisions should translate into execution faster.

Role PhilosophyA great Chief of Staff does not become another layer between the Founder and the organization.

They make the entire organization move faster around the Founder’s priorities.

The ultimate measure of this role is:

Can the Founder focus more on the decisions only the Founder can make because the Chief of Staff ensures everything else keeps moving?

- Create clarity. Increase leadership leverage. Drive execution. Protect priorities. Get things closed.
