Role Description The Biomedical Engineer will be responsible for overseeing the safe, efficient, and reliable operation of medical equipment across Oxford Hospitals in Chennai. This full time, on-site role includes installing, configuring, and testing biomedical devices, as well as monitoring equipment performance and conducting routine inspections. The person in this role will coordinate preventive and corrective maintenance, support clinical teams in the proper use of equipment, and document all service activities in accordance with hospital policies and regulatory standards.
The Biomedical
Engineer will also assist in evaluating new technologies, ensuring compliance with safety guidelines,
and working closely with vendors and internal stakeholders to minimize downtime and optimize patient care.
Qualifications
Strong foundation in Biomedical Engineering and Clinical Engineering, with the ability to apply engineering principles in a clinical environment.
- Hands-on experience with Medical Equipment, including installation, calibration, safety checks, and troubleshooting.
- Proficiency in Equipment Maintenance and Preventive Maintenance practices to ensure optimal performance and reliability.
- Bachelor’s degree in Biomedical Engineering or a related engineering discipline from a recognized institution.
- Knowledge of healthcare standards, medical device regulations, and hospital safety protocols.
- Ability to interpret technical manuals, schematics, and service documentation.
- Effective communication and collaboration skills to work with clinicians, technicians, and vendors.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with attention to detail and commitment to patient safety.
- Prior experience in a hospital or clinical setting in Chennai or similar environments is an advantage.
