This role is for a sharp, modern communications leader who can work closely with the VP, Marketing & Communications to turn business priorities into clear narratives, distinctive campaigns, stronger employee connection, and measurable brand impact. The person will help shape EXL’s internal communications, employer brand, executive messaging, PR, employee engagement, and AI-led transformation narrative with strategic intent and hands-on ownership. We are looking for someone who can think like a strategist, write like an editor, execute like an operator, and collaborate like a true partner—bringing strong judgment, AI and digital fluency, audience intelligence, stakeholder influence, and the right balance of IQ and EQ to lead a small team while driving priority work from idea to impact.
Role Mandate
- Serve as a trusted extension of the VP, Marketing & Communications—bringing pace, structure, judgment, and quality to high-priority work.
- Build communication plans that connect business ambition, culture, leadership voice, employer brand, employee experience, and EXL’s AI transformation story.
- Use AI, analytics, audience insight, digital channels, and smart dashboards to make communication sharper, faster, more targeted, and easier to measure.
- Guide a small team while personally owning critical programs where senior-level quality, speed, and follow-through matter.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Communications & Narrative Development
- Shape communication approaches for business updates, transformation programs, leadership moments, people priorities, culture campaigns, and organizational change.
- Turn complex business, technology, AI, and people themes into messaging that is simple, credible, and relevant for different audiences.
- Spot internal and external trends early and convert them into stories, campaigns, or leadership moments that strengthen EXL’s people and brand narrative.
- Create executive-ready notes, scripts, talking points, FAQs, townhall content, presentations, campaign copy, and briefing material.
- Advise business leaders on message clarity, timing, tone, channel choice, employee sentiment, and reputational sensitivity.
Employer Brand, PR & External Visibility
- Strengthen EXL’s talent narrative through credible, distinctive stories that make the employee experience visible.
- Support PR, leadership visibility, industry engagement, external events, social storytelling, and reputation-building opportunities across India and priority markets.
- Create sharp content for LinkedIn, media inputs, award entries, speaker briefs, alumni and campus engagement, events, and brand activations.
- Maintain a consistent brand voice while ensuring every story is proof-led, audience-aware, and connected to business value.
Digital, AI & Modern Communication Tools
- Work confidently across Microsoft 365, Teams,
SharePoint, Viva Engage, newsletters, intranet, digital signage, townhall platforms, dashboards, and collaboration tools.
- Use AI and analytics tools—such as Microsoft Copilot, Claude, Jasper, and similar platforms—responsibly to strengthen brand tonality, plan smarter, create sharper content, segment audiences, personalize communication, accelerate delivery, sense sentiment, track performance, and improve outcomes.
- Build and interpret smart dashboards that tell a clear story—what is working, where attention is shifting, what needs action, and how communication is creating business and brand value.
- Read audience behaviour closely—what employees notice, ignore, share, act on, or connect with—and translate that insight into campaign design, messaging, timing, format, and calls to action.
- Experiment with formats such as short videos, leadership reels, interactive posts, live polls, employee stories, digital communities, and quick-turn content that can travel across channels.
Campaigns, Events & Employee Experience
- Lead campaigns from brief to launch and optimization across culture, recognition, transformation, leadership communication, employer brand, and business priorities.
- Design communication moments for townhalls, leadership connects, employee campaigns, milestones, integration messages, and strategic launches.
- Shape campaign architecture, creative direction, message hierarchy, visual design, channel mix, and engagement strategy using audience insight and performance signals.
- Work closely with HR, Technology, Marketing, business teams, leadership offices, agencies, and creative partners to move work forward without losing quality.
- Create simple systems—calendars, templates, review rhythms, governance, and playbooks—that make communication delivery more consistent and scalable.
Team Leadership & Stakeholder Management
- Coach 1–2 team members, set clear priorities, raise the bar on content quality, and build ownership for delivery.
- Navigate a global, matrixed workplace with confidence—working closely with business leaders, functions, agencies, and external partners.
- Be the kind of people person others enjoy working with: approachable, dependable, thoughtful, responsive, and able to build trust across levels.
- Bring discretion and maturity to sensitive communication, leadership messaging, people matters, and reputation-related situations.
- Show strong work ethic, ownership,
and follow-through—especially when timelines are tight, inputs are evolving, or stakeholders need quick, high-quality support.
Key Leadership Skills & Competencies
- Business-aware communicator who can turn priorities into crisp narratives, campaigns, and leader-ready content.
- Strong writer and editor with a natural sense of tone, structure, simplicity, and audience relevance.
- Digitally current, with practical comfort using AI, analytics, enterprise social platforms, smart dashboards, and emerging formats to improve speed, targeting, personalization, and measurement.
- Audience-led and trend-sensitive thinker who understands behaviour, attention patterns, sentiment, design cues, and brand-building opportunities.
- Relationship builder with strong EQ and IQ—able to read the room, influence business leaders without authority, listen well, challenge constructively, and work easily with senior and working teams.
- Creative problem-solver with the zeal to create a “wow” factor, refine strategy continuously, and raise the benchmark for campaigns, content, and communication experience.
- High-ownership professional with strong ethics, discipline, responsiveness, discretion, and follow-through.
- Comfortable with ambiguity, confidentiality, changing priorities, senior expectations, and fast-moving work.
Experience & Qualifications
- 14–18 years of experience across internal communications, corporate communications, employer brand, PR, marketing communications, or integrated communications, with proven capability and track record of working with B2B technology organizations at global scale.
- Experience partnering with senior business leaders and creating executive-ready content including leadership notes, scripts, talking points, presentations, business updates, and change messages.
- Comfortable working with global stakeholders and accommodating time-zone needs when business priorities, leader availability, or campaign timelines require it.
- Track record of building campaigns across internal channels, employer brand platforms, social media, events, stakeholder communication, and employee engagement touchpoints.
- Practical knowledge of modern communication platforms, AI-enabled productivity and content tools, smart dashboards, storytelling-led analytics, and measurement approaches.
- Ability to use audience insight, behavioural cues, engagement data, campaign performance, and internal/external trend signals to improve design, messaging, channel strategy, and brand outcomes.
- Experience working with small teams, agencies, creative partners, and cross-functional project groups.
- Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Journalism, Public Relations, Marketing, English, or a related discipline; master’s degree preferred.
