SECTION III: PURPOSE OF THE ROLE
Perform independent, risk-based audits across the bank’s corporate support departments and independent control units. Your role ensures robust corporate governance, regulatory compliance, operational efficiency, and effective risk management across non-revenue generating functions.
SECTION IV: KEY RESPONSIBILITIES & KPIS OF THE ROLE

Strategy and
Planning
- Audit the Risk Management framework, evaluating how Credit Operational Risk and Market Risk teams monitor risk limits.
- Review the Compliance Department’s processes for tracking regulatory updates, managing regulatory correspondence, and filing mandatory disclosures.
- Evaluate the Financial Crime / Anti-Money Laundering (AML) unit’s transaction monitoring, suspicious transaction reporting (STR), and sanction screening mechanisms.
- Assess the Whistleblower and Fraud Risk Management frameworks to ensure complaints are logged, investigated, and closed objectively.
- Review Human Resources operations, including payroll management, employee background verification, incentive calculations, and separation processes.
- Audit Procurement and Vendor Risk Management, assessing tendering processes, vendor onboarding, contract governance, and SLA compliance.
- Evaluate Corporate Real Estate and Administration controls, including physical branch security, access control systems, and fixed asset management.
- Assess Business Continuity Management (BCM) and Disaster Recovery (DR) plans across corporate locations.
- Verify the health of central accounting systems by reviewing inter-branch accounts, suspense accounts, and high-value office accounts.
- Audit data privacy protocols and data governance frameworks to prevent leaks of customer or bank-proprietary information.
- Utilize data analytics (SQL, Excel) to test 100% of data populations in payroll, vendor payments, and risk logs.
- Draft evidence-backed audit reports detailing control design failures and operational risks.
- In depth knowledge of the banking audit operations and. Ability to structure and customize solutions to meet needs.
- Flair to work in complexity, with explicit focus on closure of transactions
- High emotional intelligence and assertiveness to audit independent control functions objectively.
- Strong Analytical skills
- Deep understanding of the three lines of defense model, central bank governance guidelines, and corporate vendor management.
- Discuss findings with senior heads of Risk, Compliance, HR, and Procurement to establish corrective action plans.
- Track and validate the closure of previously raised audit issues

- Lead the development and maintenance of internal audit methodologies, ensuring alignment with skilled standards (e.g., IIA Standards) and regulatory expectations.
- Ensure adherence to internal policies, procedures, statutory requirements, and relevant banking regulations.

- Stay informed about evolving industry trends, regulatory changes,
and professional standards to adapt audit methodologies and practices.
- Develop and deliver training programs to enhance audit quality and mentor team members in quality assurance principles.

- Prepare comprehensive reports and provide insights to senior management and the audit committee on the quality of audit work and key performance indicators.
- Track closure of audit issues and ensure timely remediation by business and operations units.

- Provide recommendations for improving existing processes and systems within branch operations.

- Measuring stakeholder satisfaction with the audit process, as recommended by the Internal Audit Standards, to ensure continuous improvement.

- Ensure timely and correct submission of data / information to Reserve Bank of India
- Ensure timely closure of audits and audit reports

- Ensure timely submission of data/ information to Reserve Bank of India.
SECTION V: OPERATING NETWORK Internal Business Unit, For collating responses and information for submission to RBI.
External RBI, for providing information sought by RBI, seeking and providing clarification on the data requirements.
SECTION VI: ROLE PROFILE REQUIREMENTS
Education Essential: Chartered Accountant/ MBA from a reputed institute/CS/ICWA
Experience Essential: 2 to 7 years internal audit, operational risk management, or compliance tracking within a private Bank.
