Associate Engineering Leader – Mechanical
Position Overview
We are looking for an Associate Engineering Leader – Mechanical to lead mechanical engineering activities across FMCG, Food & Beverage, and process industry projects. The role will be responsible for mechanical design leadership, technical reviews, project coordination, client and vendor interactions, and management of the mechanical engineering team.
The ideal candidate will have strong experience in engineering consultancy, PMC, EPCM, or similar project environments, with the ability to lead multidisciplinary engineering activities and deliver technically robust, cost-effective, and compliant solutions.
Key Responsibilities
Lead and manage mechanical engineering activities across multiple FMCG/Food & Beverage projects from concept through detailed engineering and execution.
Develop, review, and approve mechanical designs, layouts, equipment specifications, datasheets, and engineering deliverables.
Lead mechanical equipment selection, sizing, technical specifications, and engineering calculations.
Review and approve BOQs, equipment lists, technical specifications, datasheets, layouts, drawings, and other mechanical deliverables.
Ensure mechanical designs comply with project requirements, applicable codes, standards, safety requirements, and client specifications.
Provide technical leadership and guidance to mechanical engineers and engineering team members.
Plan and allocate mechanical engineering resources across projects to ensure timely delivery of engineering deliverables.
Coordinate with process, electrical, instrumentation, civil, architectural, automation, and other multidisciplinary teams.
Lead technical discussions with clients, consultants, vendors, contractors, and project stakeholders.
Review and technically evaluate vendor proposals, drawings, datasheets, and technical submittals.
Support vendor selection, technical bid evaluation, clarification, and resolution of engineering queries.
Participate in project meetings, design reviews, site visits, inspections, commissioning, and troubleshooting activities as required.
Identify technical risks, design gaps, and project constraints and drive appropriate engineering solutions.
Monitor engineering progress, deliverable quality, and compliance with project schedules.
Provide technical support during procurement, construction, installation, commissioning, and project closeout.
Ensure effective documentation, design change management, revision control, and engineering records.
Mentor and develop team members, promoting engineering best practices, quality, and continuous improvement.
Support project managers in scope definition, planning, cost estimation, resource planning, and technical risk management.
Contribute to development and improvement of engineering standards, templates, specifications, and design practices.
Required Qualifications & Experience
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent; a Master's degree is an advantage.
8–12+ years of relevant experience in mechanical engineering and project execution.
Proven experience leading mechanical engineering for FMCG, Food & Beverage, food processing, manufacturing, or process industry projects.
Strong experience in engineering consultancy, PMC, EPCM, or similar project-based organizations.
Experience in managing mechanical engineering teams and coordinating multidisciplinary engineering activities.
Robust understanding of mechanical systems, industrial equipment, utilities, process support systems, and project engineering requirements.
Experience with equipment specifications, technical evaluations, vendor coordination, engineering calculations, BOQs, and design reviews.
Experience in handling multiple projects and managing engineering deliverables against project schedules.
