Role Overview

We are looking for an Assistant Manager Production for our greenfield pharmaceutical manufacturing project in Ludhiana. The facility is presently under commissioning, and the role will require active involvement in production-area readiness, equipment commissioning and qualification, documentation development, trial activities, manpower coordination and establishment of shop-floor systems prior to commercial operations. Following start-up, the role will assume regular responsibility for execution and supervision of production activities within the assigned manufacturing area.

Key Responsibilities

- Take ownership of assigned production-area readiness during the commissioning and start-up phase of the greenfield facility.
- Coordinate and participate in equipment installation checks, commissioning, qualification, trial runs and production start-up activities.
- Support preparation, review and implementation of production SOPs, formats, BMR/BPR and operating practices.
- Plan, execute and supervise daily production activities in line with approved production schedules.
- Handle manufacturing operations for tablets/capsules and/or topical products such as ointments and creams, depending on assigned area.
- Ensure compliance with GMP, approved procedures, batch documentation and applicable regulatory requirements.
- Ensure line clearance, equipment readiness, cleaning and correct status identification before manufacturing activities.
- Monitor process parameters, yields, reconciliation, production losses and adherence to planned output.
- Supervise executives, operators,



technicians and helpers deployed in the assigned production area.
- Coordinate with QA for in-process controls, deviations, investigations, line clearance, change controls and batch-related activities.
- Coordinate with Engineering for equipment readiness, breakdowns, preventive maintenance, calibration and utility requirements.
- Coordinate with Stores and other functions for timely availability, movement and reconciliation of production materials.
- Participate in validation, CAPA, deviation investigations, process improvements and troubleshooting of production issues.
- Ensure timely and accurate completion and review of production and batch documentation.
- Monitor manpower utilisation, discipline, housekeeping and GMP practices within the production area.
- Identify operational bottlenecks and follow up across functions for timely closure of production-related actions.
- Assist the Production Manager/Head in establishing, stabilising and improving production systems as the facility moves into commercial operations.
- Independently handle the assigned production section within delegated authority and escalate significant technical, quality or operational issues appropriately.

Candidate Profile Qualification:



B.Pharm / M.Pharm or other relevant pharmaceutical qualification.

Experience: Approximately 5-8 years in pharmaceutical production, including meaningful shop-floor supervisory responsibility.

Practical experience in OSD manufacturing and/or ointment/cream manufacturing preferred.

- Experience in a greenfield pharmaceutical project, new plant commissioning, facility start-up or production-line commissioning will be strongly preferred.
- Should have practical understanding of equipment qualification, validation, production-area readiness and start-up requirements.
- Sound understanding of GMP documentation, batch records, line clearance, reconciliation and shop-floor production controls.
- Experience supervising production manpower and coordinating independently with QA, QC, Engineering and Stores.
- Should be capable of taking ownership of an assigned production area rather than functioning only as an execution-level resource.
- Should be comfortable working in a developing facility where systems, teams and processes are still being established.
