APIGEE API Architect Developer - 10 to 12 Years
Roles & Responsibilities
- Lead enterprisewide API architecture, strategy, and governance, with deep ownership of Apigeebased API platforms.
- Architect, design, and oversee delivery of scalable, secure, highperformance API ecosystems aligned with organizational integration strategy.
- Establish and enforce API standards, design guidelines, governance models, and reusable patterns across multiple engineering teams.
- Own endtoend API lifecycle management from conceptualization and design to deployment, monitoring, versioning, and retirement.
- Drive architecture of secure, reusable, and futureready APIs, ensuring alignment with business, security, and performance requirements.
- Enable API monetization, analytics, traffic management, and developer experience through effective platform engineering.
- Collaborate with product, business, backend, frontend, and security teams to define integration patterns for internal, partner, and external consumers.
- Lead transformation initiatives including migration from legacy integrations to modern APIled connectivity.
- Oversee scalability planning, performance tuning, incident management, and production stabilization for API platforms.
- Mentor engineering teams on API design, Apigee capabilities, platform best practices, and architectural thinking.
Education
- BE / B.Tech degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
Required Experience & Skills
- 10 to 12 years of strong experience in API architecture, integration platforms, and enterprise API governance.
- Deep handson experience with Apigee Edge / Apigee X, API gateway implementation, advanced policies, shared flows, flow hooks,
and lifecycle governance.
- Robust expertise in RESTful API design, APIfirst principles, domaindriven API modeling, versioning, and lifecycle management.
- Solid knowledge of API security frameworks including OAuth2, JWT, mTLS, API keys, and tokenbased authentication.
- Experience with API proxies, policies, traffic management, quota enforcement, and caching strategies.
- Proficiency in API analytics, monitoring, debugging, and performance optimization using Apigee and related tools.
- Strong experience integrating APIs with backend microservices, legacy systems, and distributed architectures.
- Experience with Google Cloud Platforms (GCP) and cloudnative networking, IAM, VPC, load balancing, and API runtime components.
- Familiarity with OpenAPI/Swagger, contractfirst development, and API documentation practices.
- Exposure to API monetization, developer portal management, and partner onboarding workflows.
- Strong understanding of CI/CD, automated testing, and API deployment pipelines.
- Familiarity with event-driven integrations, messaging systems, and asynchronous patterns.
- Understanding of networking foundations including VPC, Subnets, Security Groups, and load balancers.
- Experience with artifact and dependency management tools like Nexus, Artifactory.
- Preferred: Domain experience in General Insurance (Health, Motor, Travel, Home).
