Role Summary:

Own the end-to-end product experience specification and prove it's achievable by building reference implementations the CTO org builds against. Own the design system and component contract, lead the Experience Harness and Compliance engineering pod, and ensure the product experience reflects corporate brand standards in partnership with the brand/marketing function. A core part of this role is defining how agentic AI behavior — multi-step reasoning, tool use, partial progress, failure and escalation — is surfaced to the end user, since these are new interaction patterns without established UX conventions.

Key Responsibilities:

- Define the experience spec: interaction patterns, information architecture, states, error handling
- Define agentic-specific interaction patterns: how the product surfaces multi-step agent reasoning, tool-call progress, partial results, clarifying questions, and failure/escalation states to the user — these have no mature design-pattern library yet, so this role is partly originating convention, not just applying one
- Build working reference implementations/prototypes of key flows, including agentic flows (streaming responses, long-running task UI, human-in-the-loop confirmation points)
- Own the design system and component contract handed to the CTO org, including a defined component set for agentic states (loading/thinking indicators, tool-call disclosure, error/retry affordances)
- Validate delivered UI against the experience spec; reject non-conforming delivery
- Lead the Experience Harness and Compliance engineering team (#8–#11) — delivery, prioritization,



and career growth; technical depth review of AI-safety/compliance-specific work should be partnered with a subject-matter reviewer, not solely this role's call
- Partner with brand/marketing to ensure the product experience is consistent with corporate branding standards — this role applies and enforces brand guidelines in-product, it does not author brand strategy

Must-Have Requirements:

- 12+ years full-stack engineering with strong front-end depth (React/TypeScript)
- Has owned the UX quality bar for a shipped product end-to-end
- Can produce a rapid prototype and a precise spec from it — work sample required: show a prototype/spec you produced and confirm whether another team built it as intended without major reinterpretation
- Direct experience managing a team of 3+ engineers, including at least one direct report in a discipline outside your own technical depth
- Has worked embedded with a design function (in-house designers or a design system team), enough to maintain visual/interaction coherence without a dedicated designer on this role
- Practical experience designing UI/UX for at least one production LLM or agentic feature — specifically: streaming/incremental response rendering, multi-step task progress indication, and failure/retry/escalation states for AI-driven flows. Ask for a specific shipped example, not a claim of familiarity.

Preferred:

- Former design background (UX/UI, HCI) rather than just "worked near designers"
- Familiarity with agent orchestration concepts (ReAct, plan-and-execute, human-in-the-loop patterns) — enough to have an informed conversation with the engineering teams building the agents, not to build them
- Exposure to specific agentic frameworks (LangChain/LangGraph, CrewAI, AutoGen) purely as context for cross-functional conversations with the CTO org
- Prior experience partnering with a brand/marketing team on design-system-to-brand-guideline alignment
