About the Role

We are looking for a 3D CAD Design Intern to join our Product Development / R&D; team and support the design and development of enclosures and mechanical components for IoT, sensing, automation, and electronic control products.

The intern will work closely with our electronics and IoT engineering teams to translate PCBs, displays, sensors, connectors, switches, LEDs, power supplies and other electronic components into accurate, practical and manufacturable mechanical designs.

This is a hands-on product development role suited for someone who enjoys CAD modelling, mechanical design, prototyping and solving real-world design challenges.

Key Responsibilities

- Design 3D enclosures and mechanical components for IoT and automation products.
- Develop mechanical designs for sensor devices, IoT controllers, gateways, automation controllers, power monitoring devices and electronic control units.
- Design mounting arrangements for PCBs, displays, sensors, SMPS, relays, MCBs, terminal blocks, connectors, LEDs, switches, cable glands, antennas and cooling fans.
- Create accurate cut-outs and openings for displays, buttons, LEDs, connectors,



cables and other electronic components.
- Design PCB mounting points, screw bosses, fastening systems and wall/panel mounting arrangements.
- Convert PCB layouts, component dimensions and electronic specifications into accurate mechanical designs.
- Prepare 2D manufacturing drawings with appropriate dimensions and tolerances.
- Develop designs suitable for 3D printing, CNC machining, laser cutting, acrylic fabrication and sheet-metal manufacturing.
- Support prototype development and modify designs based on testing and engineering feedback.
- Work closely with electronics and IoT engineers to ensure mechanical and electronic components integrate correctly.
- Maintain organized CAD models, assemblies, drawings and manufacturing files, including STEP, STL and DXF formats.
- Maintain proper design revisions and documentation throughout the product development process.

Required Skills
- Strong understanding of 3D CAD modelling and mechanical design.
- Hands-on experience with at least one of the following:
- SolidWorks
- Autodesk Fusion 360
- Creo
- CATIA
- Autodesk Inventor
- Equivalent 3D CAD software
- Understanding of mechanical dimensions, tolerances and technical drawings.
- Basic knowledge of fasteners, mounting systems and mechanical assemblies.
- Understanding of basic manufacturing and fabrication processes.
- Familiarity with 3D printing, CNC machining, laser cutting, acrylic fabrication or sheet-metal fabrication.
- Ability to understand component dimensions and translate technical requirements into practical designs.
- Good problem-solving and attention to detail.
- Basic knowledge of electronics, PCBs or IoT hardware will be an advantage.

Students or recent graduates pursuing or having completed a degree/diploma in:

- Mechanical Engineering
- Mechatronics Engineering
- Product Design
- Industrial Design
- Manufacturing Engineering
