Job Description – Principal / In-charge Principal

Position: Principal / In-charge Principal
Institution: GTU Affiliated College

Location: The New Progressive College Of Computer & Management Studies (TNPC), 2nd Floor, Pooja Building, opposite Municipality Ground, Pilaji Ganj, Mehsana, Gujarat 384001

Job Summary

We are looking for an experienced, dynamic, and academically driven Principal / In-charge Principal to provide overall leadership to our GTU-affiliated college.

The candidate will be responsible for academic administration, faculty management, student development, admissions, examinations, GTU coordination, regulatory compliance, quality assurance, and overall institutional development.

The ideal candidate should possess strong leadership and administrative capabilities along with experience in managing higher education institutions.

Key Responsibilities1. Academic Leadership

- Plan, supervise, and monitor overall academic activities of the college.
- Ensure effective implementation of the curriculum and academic calendar prescribed by GTU.
- Monitor lectures, practical sessions, internal examinations, assignments, projects, and other academic activities.
- Review students' academic performance and initiate corrective actions wherever required.
- Conduct regular meetings with Heads of Departments and faculty members.
- Promote creative teaching methodologies, technology-enabled learning, and industry-oriented education.
- Ensure proper maintenance of academic records and documentation.

2. GTU & Regulatory Compliance

- Act as the primary academic and administrative point of coordination with Gujarat Technological University (GTU) and other regulatory authorities.
- Ensure timely submission of reports, applications, faculty information, student information, examination data, and other documentation required by GTU.
- Coordinate activities related to affiliation, inspections, Local Inspection Committee (LIC) visits, approvals, and compliance.
- Ensure that faculty appointments, qualifications, infrastructure, academic processes, and institutional documentation comply with applicable GTU / UGC / AICTE / Government norms.
- Maintain documentation required for university inspections and audits.

3. Faculty Management

- Lead recruitment, induction, deployment, and performance monitoring of faculty and academic staff.
- Ensure appropriate faculty workload and subject allocation.
- Conduct regular faculty review meetings.
- Monitor faculty attendance, punctuality, teaching quality, syllabus completion, and student feedback.
- Encourage faculty members to participate in FDPs, seminars, workshops, conferences, research, and professional development activities.
- Identify faculty training and development requirements.

4. Student Management & Discipline

- Maintain a positive, disciplined, and student-focused academic environment.
- Monitor student attendance and ensure compliance with university requirements.
- Address student grievances, academic concerns, disciplinary issues, and parent concerns.
- Conduct regular student interactions and mentoring activities.
- Promote participation in academic, cultural,



sports, technical, and extracurricular activities.
- Encourage students to develop professional skills, communication skills, discipline, and employability.

5. Admissions & Student Retention

- Support management in achieving annual admission targets.
- Guide and monitor the admission and counselling team.
- Participate in student counselling, parent interactions, seminars, school visits, open houses, and admission-related activities whenever required.
- Analyse admission trends and recommend strategies to improve enrolments.
- Monitor student retention and identify students at risk of discontinuing their studies.

6. Examination Management

- Ensure smooth execution of GTU university examinations and internal examinations.
- Coordinate with examination coordinators and faculty for examination-related activities.
- Ensure timely submission of marks, examination forms, practical examination records, and other required information.
- Monitor examination results and conduct semester-wise result analysis.
- Develop improvement plans for subjects or batches showing poor academic performance.

7. Administration & Institutional Operations

- Supervise the day-to-day academic and administrative functioning of the college.
- Coordinate with management, administration, accounts, HR, IT, library, laboratories, admission, examination, and placement departments.
- Ensure optimum utilisation of classrooms, laboratories, faculty resources, and institutional infrastructure.
- Maintain discipline, punctuality, professionalism, and accountability among employees.
- Ensure institutional policies and management decisions are implemented effectively.

8. Quality Assurance & Institutional Development

- Develop systems and processes to improve academic and administrative quality.
- Support accreditation and quality initiatives such as NAAC, IQAC, NIRF and other applicable frameworks.
- Establish and monitor academic KPIs for faculty, departments, and students.
- Encourage research, innovation, entrepreneurship, industry collaboration, and skill development initiatives.
- Develop short-term and long-term plans for the academic growth of the institution.

9. Industry & Placement Development

- Strengthen relationships with industries, corporates, professional organisations, and academic institutions.
- Encourage industry expert sessions, internships, industrial visits, live projects, workshops, and certification programs.
- Coordinate with the Training & Placement team to improve student employability and placement outcomes.
- Promote industry-relevant skills among students and faculty.

10. Reporting to Management

- Provide periodic reports to management regarding:
- Admissions
- Student attendance
- Academic performance
- Examination results




- Faculty performance
- GTU compliance
- Student discipline
- Placement activities
- Institutional development
- Highlight critical issues requiring management intervention.
- Recommend improvements in academics, administration, infrastructure, faculty development, and student services.

Qualification

- Qualification should be as per prevailing GTU / UGC / AICTE / Government of Gujarat norms applicable to the institution and programs offered.
- Master's Degree in a relevant discipline with a strong academic record.
- Ph.D. preferred / required wherever applicable under prevailing regulatory norms.
- Candidates satisfying the eligibility requirements for Principal / Head of Institution under applicable regulatory norms will be preferred.

Experience

- Preferably 10–15+ years of experience in higher education.
- Prior experience as Principal, In-charge Principal, Vice Principal, Dean, Head of Department, Academic Coordinator, or senior academic administrator will be highly preferred.
- Experience working with a GTU-affiliated college will be a significant advantage.
- Practical experience in university affiliation, inspection, examinations, academic documentation, and compliance is highly desirable.
