Job Summary
We are looking for an experienced Bluetooth Developer to design, develop, integrate, and validate Bluetooth features for automotive infotainment and connectivity platforms.
The role involves working on Android/Linux Bluetooth stacks, Bluetooth Classic and BLE profiles, audio and telephony, interoperability, performance optimization, and complex issue debugging. The candidate will collaborate with cross-functional teams including Telematics, Platform, UI/UX, Validation, Chipset Vendors, and OEM teams to deliver reliable Bluetooth solutions for production programs.
Key ResponsibilitiesBluetooth Stack Development & Integration
- Develop, customize, integrate, and maintain Bluetooth stack components such as Android Fluoride, BlueZ, or OEM Bluetooth stacks.
- Implement and enhance Bluetooth profiles including:
- HFP – Hands-Free Profile
- A2DP – Advanced Audio Distribution Profile
- AVRCP – Audio/Video Remote Control Profile
- PBAP – Phone Book Access Profile
- MAP – Message Access Profile
- HID – Human Interface Device
- PAN – Personal Area Networking
- SPP – Serial Port Profile
- BLE GATT profiles and services
- Work on Android Bluetooth Framework, Bluetooth Service, HAL, and native stack layers.
- Design, implement, and modify software components based on product requirements.
- Analyze existing architecture and contribute to design and implementation improvements.
Bluetooth Audio & Telephony
- Develop and debug Bluetooth audio and telephony features.
- Work on audio routing, SCO/eSCO connections, codec configuration, and Bluetooth audio performance.
- Debug issues such as:
- Audio stuttering
- Incorrect playback speed
- Audio delay and synchronization issues
- One-way audio
- No audio during calls
- Call connection and disconnection issues
- Optimize Bluetooth audio latency, bandwidth, and codec performance.
- Work with codecs such as SBC, AAC, aptX, and LC3.
Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE)
- Develop and integrate BLE profiles, GATT services, scanning, and advertising.
- Work with BLE pairing, bonding, privacy, and address types.
- Analyze and improve BLE connection and reconnection behavior.
- Work with random/static addresses and BLE security mechanisms.
- Develop and optimize BLE coexistence strategies with Wi-Fi.
Connectivity, Coexistence & Performance
- Analyze and resolve Bluetooth/Wi-Fi coexistence issues.
- Debug pairing failures, connection drops, reconnection issues, and link-quality problems.
- Analyze HCI command/response flows and Bluetooth link behavior.
- Work with RF-related parameters and performance optimization.
- Collaborate with chipset vendors to investigate and resolve connectivity issues.
Debugging & Root Cause Analysis
- Analyze Bluetooth issues using tools such as:
- HCI snoop logs
- Bluetooth HCI logs
- Bluetooth air-sniffer logs
- btmon
- btsnoop
- Android adb and logcat
- QXDM for modem/Bluetooth integrated chipsets
- Perform detailed root cause analysis (RCA) for complex development, integration, and field issues.
- Debug issues reported by OEMs, customers, validation teams, and internal stakeholders.
- Work closely with chipset vendors such as Qualcomm, MediaTek, CSR, TI, and NXP for issue resolution.
Interoperability & Bluetooth Certification
- Support Bluetooth interoperability (IOP) testing across Android and iOS devices.
- Execute and analyze Bluetooth SIG qualification and certification test cases.
- Execute PTS test cases using Bluetooth SIG Launch Studio.
- Support Bluetooth certification activities and maintain required technical documentation.
- Ensure compliance with applicable Bluetooth SIG specifications and requirements.
Software Quality & Development Process
- Participate in code reviews, unit testing, integration testing, and defect resolution.
- Perform static code analysis and resolve identified software quality issues.
- Follow automotive software development and quality processes, including ASPICE.
- Participate in Agile/Scrum development activities.
- Prepare technical documentation, design documents, and implementation details as required.
Required Skills & Experience
- Strong hands-on experience with Bluetooth stack development and integration.
- Strong understanding of Android Fluoride, BlueZ,
or OEM Bluetooth stacks.
- Good knowledge of Bluetooth Classic and Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) protocols.
- Strong understanding of:
- L2CAP
- SDP
- RFCOMM
- GATT
- AVDTP
- AVRCP
- HFP and AT commands
- PBAP
- MAP
- Strong programming experience in C/C++.
- Experience with Java and Android system programming is preferred.
- Good understanding of Linux/Android architecture and system programming.
- Strong knowledge of Bluetooth HCI, controller behavior, pairing, bonding, LE privacy, and Bluetooth address types.
- Experience working with A2DP, AVRCP, HFP, PBAP, and MAP.
- Good understanding of Android audio architecture, including AudioFlinger and Audio HAL.
- Ability to analyze Bluetooth/Wi-Fi coexistence and RF-related issues.
- Experience with Bluetooth debugging tools and log analysis.
- Experience with static analysis tools and software quality processes.
- Experience executing Bluetooth SIG PTS test cases using Launch Studio.
BLE / RTOS Experience
- Experience working in an RTOS environment with BLE chipsets and vendor SDKs is an advantage.
- Exposure to BLE platforms such as:
- Nordic Semiconductor – nRF52840, nRF52832
- Texas Instruments – CC2540, CC2541
- NXP – AW611, AW300, KW36, KW45
- Experience integrating and debugging vendor Bluetooth/BLE SDKs is preferred.
Positive to Have
- Experience with automotive infotainment systems.
- Exposure to Android Automotive, QNX, or GENIVI platforms.
- Experience with Qualcomm, MediaTek, NXP, or similar Bluetooth chipsets.
- Knowledge of ACL/SCO link behavior and Bluetooth codec tuning.
- Experience working with automotive OEM infotainment programs.
- Exposure to OEM platforms such as Ford, JLR, GM, Stellantis, Volkswagen, or similar automotive programs.
- Experience working directly with chipset vendors and OEM engineering teams.
