Role Summary

The Hostel Warden is responsible for the safe, orderly, and student-friendly administration of the university hostel. The role includes supervising hostel operations, maintaining discipline, supporting student welfare, coordinating with internal departments and service providers, and responding effectively to emergencies.

Key Responsibilities

- Manage the day-to-day operations of the hostel and ensure a safe, clean, and comfortable living environment.
- Enforce hostel rules and university policies fairly and consistently.
- Maintain records relating to room allocation, occupancy, attendance, leave, visitors, incidents, complaints, and disciplinary matters.
- Conduct regular inspections of rooms, common areas, dining facilities, and hostel premises.
- Address student concerns and provide basic guidance, counselling, and pastoral support.
- Identify students requiring additional assistance and coordinate with parents, counsellors, faculty members, or university authorities as appropriate.
- Respond promptly to medical, safety, security, and other emergencies.
- Coordinate with security, housekeeping, maintenance, transport, catering, and healthcare teams.
- Monitor the quality of housekeeping, food, water, electricity, sanitation, and other hostel services.
- Handle student grievances sensitively and escalate reliable matters to the appropriate authority.
- Prevent and report ragging, harassment, substance abuse, violence, and other misconduct.
- Support hostel orientation programmes, student activities, and community-building initiatives.
- Maintain appropriate communication with students and parents while protecting student confidentiality.
- Prepare periodic reports on occupancy, incidents, maintenance requirements, student welfare,



and hostel operations.
- Ensure compliance with university regulations and applicable safety, health, and statutory requirements.
- Manage hostel assets, inventories, keys, and supplies responsibly.
- Perform any other duties assigned by the university administration.

Qualifications and Experience

- Bachelor’s degree in any discipline; a postgraduate degree is preferred.
- Approximately 5–8 years of relevant experience in hostel administration, student affairs, campus operations, defence services, residential schools, or similar institutions.
- Prior experience in a university or other residential educational institution is desirable.
- Familiarity with student welfare, disciplinary procedures, emergency response, and basic administrative systems.
- Proficiency in English and at least one local language is preferred.
- Working knowledge of MS Office and digital record-management systems.

Working Conditions

- The Warden must be available during evenings, weekends, and emergencies, as required.
- Weekly time off and duty schedules will be governed by university policy.

Pay: From ₹30,000.00 per month
