Business Intelligence Engineer – Semantic Layer & Metrics Engineering

Job Summary

We are looking for a Business Intelligence Engineer to build governed semantic models, reliable metrics, high-performance dashboards, and analytical products that support business decision-making across multiple domains.

Key Responsibilities

- Design and maintain scalable BI products, semantic layers, and analytical models.
- Build governed metrics, dimensions, measures, and reusable BI models.
- Develop dimensional and analytical models for large-scale datasets.
- Work with Looker/LookML, dbt, Tableau, Power BI, or equivalent BI platforms.
- Build BI solutions using Presto/Trino, Apache Pinot, Hudi, and cloud data warehouses.
- Develop executive dashboards and operational control towers.
- Implement incremental models, snapshots, SCDs, and data reconciliation.
- Optimize dashboard performance through query tuning, caching, pre-aggregation, and partitioning.
- Establish metric governance, lineage, data quality, and access controls.
- Automate BI deployment using Git-based CI/CD, testing, and validation.

Required Skills

- 5–10 years in BI Engineering, Analytics Engineering, Data Engineering, or related roles.
- Advanced SQL and solid data modeling skills.




- Hands-on experience with Looker, Tableau, Power BI, or equivalent.
- Strong dbt experience including incremental models, tests, macros, and documentation.
- Experience with distributed query engines and large-scale analytical datasets.
- Strong understanding of dimensional modeling, metric governance, data quality, and BI performance optimization.

Good to Have

- LookML, Presto/Trino, Apache Pinot, Apache Hudi, Spark SQL, dbt, Tableau, Superset
- Metric stores, semantic layers, data contracts, lineage, and data catalog platforms.
- Geospatial analytics using H3/S2.
- Experience with high-concurrency executive dashboards.
- Data observability tools such as OpenLineage, Marquez, or Great Expectations.
- Experience across marketplace, finance, experimentation, or operational analytics.

Senior-Level Expectations

- Own BI and semantic architecture across multiple business domains.
- Establish standards for SQL, data modeling, testing, dashboard performance, lineage, and release management.
- Prevent metric duplication and ensure consistent, trusted business definitions.

Pay: ₹80,000.00 - ₹90,000.00 per month
