Functional Safety Engineer

DEKRA is now looking for competent and qualified Functional Safety Engineer.

What will be your responsibilities?

- Conduct Hazard Analysis and Risk Assessment (HARA).
- Develop safety concepts, including both functional and technical safety concepts.
- Define and document safety requirements at system, software, and hardware levels.
- Create and refine architecture specifications to meet safety requirements.
- Review functional safety work products to ensure accuracy and compliance with safety standards.
- Perform safety analyses and verification activities to validate the effectiveness of safety measures.
- Manage engineering work products under configuration management to ensure traceability and version control.
- Track the progress of project-specific engineering deliverables and their status
- Provide regular updates on the status of safety-related tasks and milestones.




- Coordinate with cross-functional teams to ensure timely delivery of safety work product
- Coach and mentor new joiners to ensure their successful integration into the team.
- Stay updated on the latest trends and developments in functional safety and ensure the company aligns with industry best practices.
- Coordinate technical efforts between Functional Safety, Cybersecurity, and AI domains.
- Support the sales team with product/project inputs (e.g. technical and quote estimates)

What do we expect from you?:

- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Software Engineering, or a related field.
- Minimum 5 years of hands-on experience in system/software/hardware design and development.
- Minimum 3 years of functional safety implementation in automotive ECU development.
- Deep knowledge of functional safety standards (ISO 26262, IEC 61508, or equivalents).
- Experience with risk analysis, FMEDA, FTA, and other safety assessment methods.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work in a team.
- Project and task coordination skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines.
- Advanced English proficiency, both written and spoken. Other languages are a plus.

Ideally, you’ll also have:

- ASPICE knowledge or ASPICE provisional assessor status.
- Professional functional safety engineer certification (e.g., ISO 26262, IEC 61508).
- International working experience with global customers.
