Department: Product Development
Reporting To: Head of Product Development
Location: Saha, India (In-Person Only)
Job Purpose:
Eisco is seeking an ambitious, market-focused Product Manager to lead proactive product discovery and shape our global product roadmap across scientific and laboratory instrumentation. Operating as the strategic conduit between Customer/Market, Engineering, and Sales/Marketing, you will own the product specification lifecycle from concept through launch. In this role, you will analyze industrial, research, and educational laboratory workflows to identify unserved market needs ahead of demand. You will write precise Product Requirement Documents (PRDs), evaluate prototypes against performance and usability standards during engineering phases, and translate complex technical outputs into high-impact user manuals, specification sheets, and go-to-market positioning.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Market Discovery & Spec Ownership
- Proactive Market Research: Conduct targeted research in industrial, educational, and research Biology and Chemistry laboratory environments to identify unmet product needs and emerging market trends.
- Technical Spec Ownership: Author comprehensive Product Requirement Documents (PRDs) and functional specifications prior to engineering design—defining performance metrics, user workflows, target unit costs, and key competitive differentiators.
- Voice-of-Customer (VoC) Pipeline: Establish and maintain a systematic feedback loop—synthesizing market feedback, quality metrics, distributor input, and end-user pain points—into an evidence-backed product backlog
- Early Regulatory Integration: Identify applicable international compliance and certification standards (CE, RED, CRA, RoHS) early in the project lifecycle to shape specs and product architecture prior to design freeze.
2. Execution, Usability & Go-to-Market
- Design Evaluation & Usability Input:
Continuously evaluate engineering prototypes against original specifications throughout development, proactively identifying ergonomics, feasibility, and competitive gaps.
- Go-to-Market Content Translation: Translate engineering designs into clear, accurate technical manuals, specification sheets, and comparative positioning collateral for global Sales and Marketing teams.
- Cross-Functional Coordination: Serve as the central communication bridge across Market, Engineering, and Sales/Marketing to align product goals and technical deliverables.
3. Portfolio & Strategic Growth
- Portfolio Rationalization: Audit active SKU lines periodically to identify opportunities for modernization, consolidation, or strategic retirement.
- Competitive Analysis: Maintain ongoing intelligence on market releases, competitor pricing dynamics, and technology trends to defend market share and inform future product specs.
- Post-Launch Performance Tracking: Track commercial adoption—sales velocity, distributor reorder cadence, and customer feedback—to refine future iteration cycles.
- Cross-Project Prioritization: Collaborate with product leadership to sequence resourcing across active NPD projects based on market opportunity and strategic urgency
Skills required:
Educational Background:
- Degree: B.Tech / M.Tech in Biotechnology, Chemical Engineering, or Biomedical Engineering preferred; B.Sc / M.Sc in Chemistry, Biochemistry, or Life Sciences strongly considered. An MBA/PGDM built upon a scientific foundation is a plus
- Practical lab experience or technical product management achievement will be evaluated on equal footing with specific academic degrees.
Technical & Qualified Competencies
- Bio/Chem Domain Fluency: Deep technical familiarity with industrial, academic, or research Biology and Chemistry laboratory environments and instrumentation (Physics-only background is not applicable for this role).
- Technical Spec Writing: Proven capability to write structured, unambiguous technical specifications and functional requirement documentation.
- Cross-Functional Communication: Exceptional ability to bridge complex engineering concepts with commercial marketing language for non-technical stakeholders and global partners.
- Regulatory Awareness: Working familiarity with regulatory, safety, and export compliance frameworks relevant to scientific laboratory instrumentation.
- Analytical Research: Strong methodology for competitive teardowns, market sizing, and synthesizing qualitative customer feedback into evidence-backed product specs.
Experience Level
- 3 to 6+ Years Equivalent (Domain & Skill-First Evaluation)
- Eisco prioritizes domain fluency, analytical rigor, and execution speed over rigid tenure metrics. We welcome candidates from two primary profiles:
- Experienced scientific domain professionals (Lab Applications Specialists, Technical Marketing Engineers, or Research Scientists) transitioning into formal Product Management.
- Formally trained Product Managers with deep, hands-on exposure to scientific, chemical, or biological laboratory instrumentation.
What We Offer
- Direct partnership with product leadership in shaping Eisco’s global product roadmap.
- Direct ownership of physical products distributed across 100+ countries worldwide.
- A high-autonomy, fast-paced technical environment focused on engineering excellence and merit-based growth.
