ANBU BUILDERS JOB DESCRIPTION – SENIOR SITE ENGINEER "Execution Team Leader"

Reporting To: Execution Head / Management
Team: Site Engineers, Junior Engineers, Supervisors, Trainees & Site Support Staff
Employment Type: Full-Time
Location: Project Sites – Tirunelveli / Tenkasi / Thoothukudi Region

1. POSITION PURPOSE

The Senior Site Engineer – Execution Team Leader is responsible for leading and controlling the day-to-day execution of Anbu Builders' residential construction projects from work commencement through completion and handover.

The role is not limited to supervising construction activities. The Senior Site Engineer is expected to lead the execution team, maintain quality, control project timelines, coordinate manpower and materials, ensure safety, monitor productivity, and deliver the project as per approved drawings, specifications, budget and company standards.

The Senior Site Engineer will act as the primary field-level leader and coordinator of the Execution Team.

2. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

A. Project Planning & Work Execution

- Study and understand the signed construction agreement, work order, approved drawings, specifications and BOQ before commencement of work.
- Prepare and maintain the project execution schedule in coordination with the Execution Head.
- Plan daily, weekly and monthly site activities.
- Break the project into measurable work stages and establish clear targets.
- Ensure execution is carried out strictly according to approved drawings and specifications.
- Identify dependencies between civil, electrical, plumbing, carpentry, painting, waterproofing, fabrication and other works.
- Ensure work fronts are released on time for subsequent activities.
- Monitor project progress against the approved schedule.
- Identify delays at an early stage and take corrective action.

B. Team Leadership & Supervision

The Senior Site Engineer will function as the Team Leader of the Execution Team.

Responsibilities include:

- Allocate work to Site Engineers, Junior Engineers, Supervisors and Trainees.
- Conduct daily execution briefings with the site team.
- Set daily targets and monitor achievement.
- Review the performance and productivity of team members.
- Guide junior engineers and trainees technically and professionally.
- Ensure every team member understands their responsibility before commencing work.
- Conduct regular site inspections with the concerned engineer/supervisor.
- Maintain discipline and skilled conduct within the execution team.
- Escalate manpower or performance issues to the Execution Head.
- Develop a culture of accountability, quality and timely execution.

3. QUALITY CONTROL

The Senior Site Engineer shall be directly responsible for maintaining the company's construction quality standards at site.

Key responsibilities:

- Ensure construction is executed according to approved structural and architectural drawings.
- Check dimensions, levels, line, alignment and workmanship.
- Verify reinforcement, shuttering and concrete works before approval for subsequent activities.
- Monitor masonry, plastering, waterproofing, flooring, tiling, painting and finishing works.
- Ensure proper curing practices.
- Ensure materials are used according to approved specifications and brands.
- Identify defective or unacceptable work immediately.
- Issue correction instructions to the concerned team/vendor.
- Ensure defective work is rectified before proceeding to the next stage.
- Conduct stage-wise quality inspections.
- Maintain site quality checklists and inspection records.
- Coordinate with consultants/engineers wherever technical clarification is required.

Quality Principle

No work should be covered, concealed or progressed to the next stage without the required inspection and approval.

4. MATERIAL MANAGEMENT

The Senior Site Engineer shall ensure that materials required for execution are available at the right time and are used efficiently.

Responsibilities include:

- Prepare material requirements based on the project schedule.
- Coordinate material requirements with the concerned department.
- Check materials received at site against specifications and requirements.
- Ensure proper storage and handling of construction materials.
- Monitor material consumption against estimated quantities.
- Identify abnormal wastage.
- Prevent unauthorized or careless usage of materials.
- Report shortage, damage or quality issues immediately.
- Maintain material usage and site stock records as required.
- Coordinate with the purchase/store team for timely availability of materials.

5. MANPOWER MANAGEMENT

- Estimate manpower requirements for upcoming activities.
- Coordinate with contractors, subcontractors and workmen.
- Allocate manpower based on project priorities.
- Monitor daily manpower deployment.
- Track productivity of major work activities.
- Ensure adequate manpower for critical activities.
- Identify underperformance and take corrective action.
- Maintain professional relationships with contractors and workmen.
- Prevent idle manpower and unnecessary labour costs.

6. COST & WASTAGE CONTROL

The Senior Site Engineer must understand that site execution directly affects project profitability.

Responsibilities include:

- Execute work within approved quantities and specifications.




- Minimize material wastage.
- Prevent rework caused by poor supervision.
- Monitor consumption of cement, steel, sand, aggregates, blocks, tiles, paint and other major materials.
- Identify quantity variations at an early stage.
- Avoid unnecessary additional works without approval.
- Report potential cost overruns immediately.
- Ensure subcontractor measurements are accurate.
- Coordinate with the Quantity Surveyor/Execution Head regarding quantity verification.
- Protect company assets, materials and resources at site.

7. PROJECT TIME MANAGEMENT

The Senior Site Engineer is responsible for maintaining execution momentum.

The engineer shall:

- Maintain the project execution schedule.
- Prepare daily and weekly work targets.
- Track actual progress against planned progress.
- Identify critical activities.
- Monitor activities affecting the overall project completion date.
- Escalate delays immediately.
- Prepare recovery plans when the project falls behind schedule.
- Coordinate multiple trades to avoid work stoppages.
- Ensure subcontractors complete their assigned work within agreed timelines.

8. SITE SAFETY & HOUSEKEEPING

- Ensure workers follow basic construction safety practices.
- Ensure appropriate PPE is used wherever required.
- Identify unsafe conditions and take immediate corrective action.
- Maintain safe access and working areas.
- Ensure proper housekeeping at site.
- Prevent unnecessary accumulation of debris and waste.
- Report accidents, incidents and unsafe conditions immediately.
- Ensure temporary electrical connections and equipment are handled safely.
- Coordinate with the Execution Head regarding major safety concerns.

9. CONTRACTOR & VENDOR COORDINATION

- Coordinate with civil contractors, subcontractors and specialist vendors.
- Clearly communicate scope, specifications and expected completion dates.
- Verify work progress before recommending measurements.
- Monitor workmanship and productivity.
- Resolve routine site-level issues.
- Ensure contractors follow approved drawings and company standards.
- Escalate contractual or major commercial issues to management.
- Maintain professional relationships without compromising company standards.

10. DRAWING & TECHNICAL COORDINATION

- Study architectural, structural, electrical and plumbing drawings.
- Ensure the latest approved drawing is available at site.
- Verify site execution against drawings.
- Identify discrepancies between drawings and actual site conditions.
- Raise technical queries before execution wherever clarification is required.
- Coordinate with the design/drafting team for revisions.
- Ensure obsolete drawings are removed from active site use.
- Communicate drawing revisions effectively to the site team.

11. CLIENT COORDINATION

The Senior Site Engineer may interact with customers during project execution and shall represent Anbu Builders professionally.

Responsibilities include:

- Explain routine site progress when required.
- Coordinate scheduled site visits.
- Communicate execution-related information clearly.
- Avoid making unauthorized commitments regarding cost, design changes or timelines.
- Record customer requests and communicate them to the appropriate department.
- Maintain professional behaviour and customer confidence.
- Ensure customer concerns are escalated and resolved through the proper process.

12. REPORTING & DOCUMENTATION

The Senior Site Engineer shall ensure timely and accurate project documentation.

Required reports may include:

- Daily Site Progress Report

13. DAILY RESPONSIBILITIES

The Senior Site Engineer is expected to:

- Review today's planned activities.
- Check manpower availability.
- Check material availability.
- Review drawings and technical requirements.
- Identify critical activities and risks.

During Work

- Conduct site rounds.
- Monitor workmanship.
- Check dimensions, levels and alignment.
- Coordinate contractors and team members.
- Resolve routine site issues.
- Monitor productivity and material usage.
- Conduct quality inspections.

End of Day

- Verify completed work against targets.
- Record actual progress.
- Record manpower.
- Record material issues.
- Identify pending activities.
- Update the Execution Head.
- Prepare the next day's action plan.

14. WEEKLY RESPONSIBILITIES

- Review project progress against schedule.
- Prepare the next week's execution plan.
- Review manpower productivity.
- Review material requirements.
- Identify potential delays.
- Review quality issues and pending rectifications.
- Conduct team performance review.
- Coordinate with the Execution Head regarding project priorities.
- Prepare recovery plans where required.
- Ensure documentation is updated.

The Senior Site Engineer is authorized to:

- Allocate daily work among execution team members.
- Give technical and execution instructions within approved drawings/specifications.
- Stop work that clearly violates approved quality or safety requirements.
- Request correction of defective workmanship.
- Coordinate day-to-day contractor activities.
- Recommend manpower and material requirements.
- Escalate technical, quality, cost and schedule risks.

The Senior Site Engineer shall NOT independently:

- Approve major design changes.
- Commit additional costs to customers.
- Change approved specifications without authorization.
- Approve commercial variations without management approval.
- Make contractual commitments on behalf of the company.

17. QUALIFICATION

Preferred Qualification:

- B.E./B.Tech – Civil Engineering
- M.E Structural

18. EXPERIENCE

Preferred Experience:
Minimum 4–7 years of relevant residential construction/site execution experience, with demonstrated ability to lead site teams.

Experience in:

- RCC framed structures
- Finishing works
