Designation - School Lab Assistant

Job Description

A school lab assistant for Physics, Chemistry, and Biology prepares materials for experiments, maintains safety standards, and supports science teachers across all three subjects.

Core Responsibilities

- Experiment Preparation: Set up equipment, chemicals, and biological specimens before practical classes.
- Safety Maintenance: Handle hazardous chemicals safely, store items correctly, and keep first-aid kits ready.
- Inventory Management: Track stock levels for glassware, reagents, electronic components, and lab specimens. Order new supplies when items run low.
- Cleaning and Maintenance: Clean glassware, maintain microscopes, test electrical circuits, and dispose of biological waste properly.
- Teacher Support: Assist the teacher during demonstrations and help students follow safety rules during hands-on work.

Subject-Specific DutiesPhysics

- Set up optical benches, lasers, multimeters, power supplies, and motion tracks.
- Check and repair easy electrical circuits, batteries, and resistors.




- Handle sensitive measuring tools like vernier calipers and screw gauges.

Chemistry

- Prepare chemical solutions, indicators, and dilutions of specific molarity.
- Store acids, bases, and volatile compounds in locked, ventilated cabinets.
- Neutralize and dispose of chemical waste according to safety guidelines.

Biology

- Prepare microscope slides, stains, and culture media.
- Maintain preserved biological specimens (plants and animals) and care for live aquarium or terrarium animals if applicable.
- Sterilize equipment using an autoclave or boiling water.

Required Skills and Qualifications

- Education: A bachelor's degree or diploma in Science (Physics, Chemistry, Biology, or General Science).
- Knowledge: Understanding of lab safety protocols, WHMIS/OSHA guidelines, and basic chemical handling.
- Skills: Strong organization, attention to detail, and basic troubleshooting for lab equipment.

Pay: ₹15,000.00 - ₹25,000.00 per month
