Position: Band Instructor

Employment Type: Part time (2 days a week)

Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced and energetic Band Instructor to train and lead students for march-past, parades, school events, concerts, and other musical performances. The instructor will conduct rehearsals, lead performances, and coordinate closely with other music teachers to deliver well-organized and engaging musical programmes.

Key Responsibilities

- Train and lead the students for march-past, parades, ceremonial events, and school functions.
- Coordinate with other music teachers to rehearse and lead large-scale musical performances involving multiple instruments and ensembles.
- Conduct regular rehearsals and develop students' musical skills, rhythm, timing, discipline, coordination, and ensemble performance.
- Prepare and conduct the band for concerts, annual functions, sports days, competitions, and other school performances.
- Select, arrange, and prepare suitable music for band performances and school events.
- Lead the band during performances and provide clear direction to students and supporting music teachers.
- Maintain a disciplined, positive,



and motivating rehearsal environment while developing students' confidence and teamwork.

Qualifications

- Diploma or degree in Music, Music Education, Conducting, or a related field preferred.
- Strong experience in school bands, marching bands, concert bands, or ensemble direction.
- Proven ability to conduct and lead student groups, with good knowledge of rhythm, tempo, musical notation, and ensemble performance.
- Experience working with school students and coordinating with other music teachers is highly desirable.

Preferred Experience

- Experience conducting school march-past or parade bands.
- Experience leading large-scale school musical performances.
- Knowledge of brass, woodwind, and percussion instruments.
- Strong conducting, leadership, communication, and rehearsal-management skills.

Compensation

Salary/Fees: Competitive and commensurate with qualifications, teaching experience, and performance background, on a per-day basis.
